• Can anyone else ever remember a LT Gov attack a sitting Governor this much?  Especially one of his own party?   Good for Quinn.   Boy, Blago burned a LOT of bridges.

  • I don't like Nancy either, but I thought the general rule was to NOT post diaries calling people out.

I still want to see Jeb on the campaign trail in the aftermath of his brother.    If they hit the right theme (two Bushes in Washington have been enough) then I think he's beatable... but agree he'd be the early favorite.      If he does win, he is setting the table for a 2016 run for the white house (possible 2012, but I doubt it.)  So if he does run, I think that race needs to go to the top of the lists in races we need to win... I don't want an intelligent Wingnut in the White House... a stupid one was bad enough.

Do you mean Mark Kirk in Illinois?

He's not much to worry about... probably the best reputation of a republican in the state, but still not all that highly thought of... his biggest advantage would be that he has enough power to clear any serious challenges from a primary, where a Dem primary may be brutal...  If one of the higher profile Dems runs... Madigan, Gionoulias, etc then Kirk isn't going to beat them... not with Obama campaigning for them.

Ditka might be the only GOPer I'd worry about... even then I don't think he could run a disciplined enough campaign to get elected.

Really?  They don't get the rest of it?  That sucks.

Yes well Ann Coulter is an ignorant elitest... and a FUCKING MORON.  (There you go Ann... I'll describe you in the college and non-college way... you pick which you prefer)

  • So did Bill commit a hate crime with what he did with the cigar to Lewinsky?  Or when he cheated on Hillary to begin with.

  • comment on a post Favreau's and Imus' Hate Speech: A Comparison over 5 years ago

No... its not hate speech.  Not in the slightest.  Your diary debases true hate speech.  To compare a juvenile photo to true hate speech is ridiculous.   Is the photo wrong?  Absolutely.   Would I have an issue if he were fired for it?  Not at all.    But its not hate speech.   Learn the difference... you offer some points on Favreau, but you destroy your whole diary with that sort of ignorant argument.

  • Well... lets be honest... its not like corruption is NEW to Chicago... although Blago seems to be raising the bar doesn't he?

I don't think nepotism for the Senate is that big of an issue... after all, Biden pretty much did that for his seat... even if it is more indirectly.

Politics is FULL of guys and girls operating off a relatives name...

Gore, Bayh, Hillary Clinton, Casey, hell FDR...

But at least they were all proven in lesser offices (or as First Lady)... and they won election.  Kennedy hasn't.

I think they should let me move to NY and appoint me... if only because I'll tell the Blue Dogs to go F themselves.    I'll probably be booted in less than 6 years, but hey...It will be entertaining.

  • And I said, I do not think Kennedy is the best choice.  But to list the fact she supported Obama as their MAIN reason to oppose her...  again... F THEM.  Seriously... I wouldn't hesitate to SLAP them... not punch but Slap... to insult them that badly for this type of horsecrap.

  • What has she done to make herself Elite except being a Kennedy?  If they aren't appointing a caretaker then we need someone with a great chance of winning re-election.  She is not that person.

  • comment on a post NY-Sen: Opposition To Kennedy Appointment Builds over 5 years ago

While I agree that Kennedy is not a great choice, Zimmerman and Applebaum can GO F THEMSELVES.  WHO THE F CARES IF CLINTON SUPPORTERS FEEL SLIGHTED BY KENNEDY BEING CHOSEN.   IF THEY ARE THAT F-ING PETTY THEN  PLEASE LEAVE THE PARTY.  NO ONE GIVES A RAT'S ASS.  ELECTION IS OVER.   OBAMA IS PRESIDENT.. HILLARY HELPED... HILLARY IS THE 5th HIGHEST RANKING PERSON IN GOVERNMENT RIGHT NOW.
WTF MORE DO THOSE JACKASSES WANT!

That being said, I'm with Bowers on Slaughter for the seat... even if she supports Kennedy for it.

  • Did yu ACTUALLY think Clinton was a man of principles?  He was a politician, a fine one, but a politician.

  • I'm not so sure you can make that Gore Argument... I mean, ANYONE would have been better than Bush...   But in truth, we DON'T know how Gore would react to 9-11... we can only assume (and we assume much better than Alfred E Neumann did).

As for how much of an impact, well a lot of that would depend on congress.   If the GOP remained in control and they acted as they did in the 90's, Gore would not have been able to pass much either.

It definately would have been better... and I Hope MUCH MUCH better and different than the Bush years... all I'm saying is you can't make that arguement with any factual certainity... merely HOPE and FAITH.

I'd Say Healthcare and Global warming...  reluctantly, because I also do want Infrastructure improvements (like fiber network Proliferation that Verizon is following through with but that AT and T lied about and High Speed Rails ala Europe and Japan) and a big public works program to keep folks employed.  The war in Iraq is actually a lot lower on my list now since the economy came to a head.  It will end and I think its probably in much better hands now with Obama forming policy...

But if we are JUST picking 2 to go to the mat, IMHO, healthcare and Global warming would have the biggest impact on our country at this point (especially if his GW policy includes proliferation of Green businesses and industries which will help revive the economy).
