I voted today (low turnout): look for Hillary upset victories

I went to vote today around 11 am. I've been to this local school to vote numerous times. I can safely report:

THERE IS NO OBAMA-MANIA IN MY TOWN!

I live in the heart of his base: there is a sizable population of  elite white liberals and overall it is a majority black middle class district in Prince Georges County Maryland.

Normally, on a big election day there is a line no matter what time you go. Not today, I was in and out within 5 minutes.  There were more poll workers than voters.

I think two things MAY happen:

1. the polls may depress Obama's vote because "he's going to win anyway".

2. people like me who were depressed 2 days ago, have bounced back.

I honestly wasn't going to vote 2 days ago. Now, I'm going to go out and electioneer at the polling place later, WHEN PEOPLE SHOW UP!

I'm totally excited to see how Hillary wins this nomination.
She is our best prospective nominee, and certainly the best person to be President.

Hopefully I can start a trend in Maryland among fellow African Americans to judge these candidates by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

Honestly, as much as I want Hillary to win, I find it an ill portent to be celebrating low turnout.

Thank you for the anecdotal evidence, but I really do not want to win this way.

I've been taking a break from political postings because I think my friends are slowly being driven mad by it, but there is plenty to peruse.

To clarify my point, I would prefer to win on something more concrete than people staying home due to complacency or weather.  Sure, a win is a win, but I want to win because Hillary is the better candidate, no more, no less.

I live in Prince George's County too.  I'm white, but live in a mostly black area and the line this morning far an HOUR LONG!  Interesting that a Hillary supporter is hoping for low turnout/ that blacks don't go vote.  That is something I'd expect to hear from a GOP "southern strategy" not from a real Democrat (well at least not in 2008).

I give the d.j. credit for asking, what about change in education? what about school choice? (I support it)

Obama gave the same old same old. bs. you would expect from a typical politician.

The end result of the interview was:
"I'm so imspired because you are black, Sen. Obama"

that is racism and it is wrong.

Although I agree with both of them, not a fan of abadoning public education (and it is not a univeral solution... not enough "alt/private" schools for everyone)

This idea that the free market will magically save everything is a muth. I went to a catholic school, which has no state requirements for teaching and it was horrible.  Our teacher in 6th grade simply decided to skip English classes (my terrible grammar is testimony to this) for the entire year.  My parents wisely sent my brother to public schools, they had more resources (wonderful music program) and much better education.  * Also I don't live in the famed latte drinking wine track... mid sized city in Central Mass that is economic crisis. **

1. she has a great career in public service

  1. I like her combative approach to politics
  2. she has the right political enemies and has beat them.
  3. she is truly qualified to be President
  4. I like her healthcare program. I like how she is selling it.

  1. Community Organizer
  2. Non-divisive
  3. Gets things done
  4. Clear Progressive
  5. Against Iraq War
  6. A Health Care Plan that actually works (with details)
  7. Will beat McCain

1. Iraq war (waited until the entire party was against it for her to change)

  1. Future Iran War (didn't learn her lesson)
  2. Divisive
  3. Not a Clear Progressive (see 1 and 2, plus trade laws)
  4. Health Care-- mandate, not affordability. Not enough focus on underinsured
  5. Will lose to McCain

We can go on and on.  But stop irritating Obama supporters by calling us a cult, just because the majority of Democrats support him now.

Obama not divisive? That's the funniest thing I've heard since...well, since he said he was above politics as usual.

We are more bitterly divided as a party than anytime in my history as a democrat and Obama's use of "clinton hate" and other republican attack strategies as his campaign strategy is largely the reason why.

the results from today and the rest of the primary only matter in the media spin.

It is impossible for someone to get enough delegates to win the nomination.

This process was set-up assuming it would never be used because everyone would drop out.

So Hillary just needs to win the spin war, win in March, and then fight her way through.

That's what Obama's campaign has been since the beginning. Spin and Spin. He triangulated on Driver License but spun it against Hillary. He triangulated on Social Security (he had 3 different positions in 2007) but spun it with media. He created racial tensions thru spin. Look at how his surrogates Jesse Jackson Jr and Doug Wilder are spinning. And Obama hasnt apologized for it yet.

Obama has put you in a spin, that's why you are part of the cult:-). Now you see how a cult is created?

Read the article on Newsweek on how Obama planned the racial overtones of his campaign. Shows what a politician he is:-)

I'm an Obama supporter and I agree with that.  There's nothing that can be done now though for this year.  

I am always in favor of as many people being able to vote as possible.  That and doing whatever it takes to count all votes as accurately as possible are two principle that transcend winning this or any election.  This country was founded on democracy.

Hello, mcfly... HRC had a 37 point lead in MA before the endorsement. It was never about winning the state it was about cutting into the delegate count.

According to Survey USA (which nailed the MA race FAR better than anyone), 4 days before Kennedy's endorsement, Clinton's lead was 37 points.  3 days after Kennedy's endorsement, it was 24 points, an immediate 13 piont improvement.  A week later, it was 17 points.  2 days later at the actual polls, she won by 15 points.  Certainly, that is not ALL the effect of Ted Kennedy, but you're being dishonest with yourself if you think he actually hurt Obama in MA.
