And, one day, Kyl and his ilk wake up on the streets...
And, the US has been transformed, and Blacks and Latinos are the dominant population, and he is a poor homeless whiteman on the street...
And, as he goes through is day, he is scorned and riduculed, he finds out that a NEW conservative government has shut down social programs, and he finds out very quickly how it looks from the bottom looking up.
And, of course, we have Rod Serling delivering the tag line
"Portrait of a rich white politician who turned a corner and found a world that he didn't know he helped create, a world he ignored, and a world he is now at the bottom of....Portrait of a Republican Senator living his his own Free-Market Paradise..in the Twilight Zone!"
And, just to make the argument MORE complex, the real tag line is military spending as a function of GDP?
In that ranking, Russia leaps to #2, and basically, all that says is, the superpowers post ww2 continued to spend large amounts of their GDP with military contractors and sort of remain in the same order they were in 1945?
There is NO neccesary extrapolation to more war-like on that list, it's pure economics.
Rich "don't tax me" types....at least, the pro-jocks are when they retire.
I remember Sir Charles Barkley was claiming he was going to run for Gov of Alabama as a Republican?
I was thinking Hayden Fry, but he is too old, and maybe no one remembers the glory days of Iowa football anyway? We still hate him out here for the 1995 Sun Bowl against my alma-mater, the U-Dub Huskies...(that's OK, we kicked his ass in two Rose bowls before that...)
riding Obama's coat-tails in Red districts in the house, for sure.
But, we MAY take out some creeps as well.
I keep telling folks, IF we put up someone that fits the WA-8, we CAN take out Sherrif Dave Reichert. It just can't be anyone as far left as Darcy Burner was. And, in WA, that does not have to be a Mike Ross blue dog type.
I'm hoping we limit it to maybe TWO in Senate and 10-15 in the house.
The Media is obsessed with them, the Republican party machine totally kowtows to them.
But, it's still going to be about the mushy middle in 2010, and election day is a lONG ways away, plenty of things economic, domestic and foriegn policy wise to create a shift.
Still, If I was a betting man, I would bet on Obama and his team over Boenher, Cantor, McConnel, Steele...
Oh, and of course, the leaders of Republican the Party: Beck, Rush and Palin.
Jenny Durken looks like she is breezing to confirmation at the US Attorney for Western Washington.
She has been uniformily acclaimed, even John McKay, the former Republican US Attorney that was ousted in Karl Roves Attorney purge praised the choice of Durken.
She would be the first OPENLY (how nice that is) gay US Attorney ever appointed.
Thank you Gov Gregoire, I am proud to be WA stater today!

Are to the left of most politician in the US system, except maybe Bernie Sanders...
Think of them maybe like Republicans 30+ years ago, more Nelson Rockefeller then Jim Demint.
But, just to be contrarian, I prefer Firenze as the city I would recommend as a must visit at least once in your life....
I prefer bistec florentine to coq au vin anyway (i'm a peasant at heart).
But, isn't his district really REALLY red?
From his Wicki, it says Ashton describes himself as a fiscal conservative and a social liberal.
King of course, is a firebreathing social conservative, so that would be an interesting match up.
Of course, Ashton could have Demi campaign, all the older white males would trip over their tongues for drooling...

He just has to move to Iowa, and for Gawds sakes, put down that Bong!
Something that maybe shows McCain closing the gap and Obama in real trouble!!!
(Not to doubt your sterling record here as a predictor of events politique, or anything like that...)
Face it, with towel-throwers in like you and Kent, that is why MyDD leads the blogosphere in predicting Future Disasters!

And, it will take probably a decade or more to get OUT of the Emergency, thanks to a generation of Ronnie Reagan politics.
Stabenow suggesting removing coverage for Prostate Cancer, after all, SHE probably doesn't need that covered any time soon?
And, aren't these the pro-life warriors, who scream constantly about unborn children?
The mind reels...

where "..the government also becomes the final arbiter of who lives and who dies..."
Evidently ONLY if the RR demands a bill rammed through congress for ONE INDIVIDUAL...
Then, Gov is clearly the final abiter of who lives and dies in their hypocritical eyes.
