For me, it was the shot of Jessie Jackson. He was standing there in a sea of smiling, laughing, cheering white faces gripping that tiny American flag like his life depended on it and crying. I can already tell that this is one of those rare moments that is going to break me down every time I think about it for the rest of my life. The last one before this was the day I realized my father was an old man.
How about you guys? This isn't meant to be thoughtful or provoking or important. I fought very hard, and I want to collect a few more moments to cry over. What hit you the hardest this last week and why?
Also, briefly, thank you all. Thank you for the boots on the ground, the massive weekday minutes cellphone bills, the money in the campaign coffers, and everything else you did to save this country. I'm proud to own a piece of this, but I'm even more proud to be associated with such diverse, decent people. Michelle said it once and everyone balked. I'm younger so I hope I get away with it: for the first time in my life, I'm proud to be an American.

This was originally comment, but by the time I finished saying everything I felt needed saying (and by the time I'd reiterated it incessantly to make sure I was understood, as I neurotically tend to do), I realized I'd written a diary.
There's a lot of anger out there and frustration over Obama's apparent leap to the center. I've thought about writing about FISA, but the fact is what can be said has been. By the time I got up the confidence to write something, the lines were drawn and that was that.
Well I'm getting in on the ground floor of this Wesley Clark hullabaloo. Thanks in advance for reading. I'm a bit nervous but here it goes:
