The 2008 Poll Watcher

I don't come here very often, and this may even be the first time I've diaried here, but my thoughts are site-specific, I think, and, well, indulge me a minute here, 'cause it won't take long.

What I want to talk about is those two little maps in the upper right and upper left corners of the MyDD home page.

I think they've been the same since they went up, and that's a huge problem in my book, because they show John McCain winning the 2008 presidential election.

We have George W. Bush, with a sub-30% approval rating, yet we don't have a wave across the nation of people wanting a Democrat in the White House in 2008? WTF???

Why is this the case? What the hell have we done wrong? And more importantly, how are we going to change these maps?

Re: The 2008 Poll Watcher
McCain's numbers are up because no one's giving him any scrutiny. That'll change. McCain's got some bad stuff going on in his voting record in the Senate, and I doubt most people realize it. We'll change the maps by making sure everyone finds out.

That map is unsourced garbage

No Democrat will lose Michigan or Russ Feingold's home state. I can't imagine NH flipping either.

Like I said, I don't come here that often... if those of you who do have any idea why those maps went up in the first place, or even when they went up, I'd appreciate the information.

I don't know either

but they've been up for more then a week and they've yet to update. Nothing on them indicates who set it up or what criteria they're using.

That was before George W.

New Hampshire has been swept by the Democrats in recent elections.

Re: The 2008 Poll Watcher

Don't sweat it.

First, polls this far out are meaningless.

Second, while Hillary and Obama go at it like prize fighters and get seriously bloodied, McCain is getting a free pass.

Third, despite point #2, he's only polling around even with O/C.

Fourth...oh, he'll get his.  "The Bush-McCain XXX" and "The Bush-McCain YYY" will be everywhere this summer and fall.  If the BEST he can do is 50/50, and that's when things are going their worst for the Democrats (in terms of negativity), then he's in trouble.

I wish I had that confidence.

I was confident in 2004 that people wouldn't want a second Bush term, and we all know how that turned out...

I am growing more and more frustrated with the positive perception being cast upon John McCain, what can I say.

Maybe I should just wish that MyDD remove those maps until later in the race? Any admins around who can explain why they are there in the first place?

Tweety Hearts McCain

Or so it appears in the MSNBC ad running on this site:

This is the kind of stuff, along with those polls, that drives me nuts lately. It is long since time to start moving against the GOP and McCain.

Re: The 2008 Poll Watcher

The head to head polls are meaningless right now. The "my candidate or McCain" voters are poisoning the numbers. Once the primary season ends and emotions cool and the loosing candidate rallies around the nominee and urges their supporters to do the same you will see a good 10 point bounce.
