not anymore...

Yeah

Looks like turnout was quite high, at least in those two precincts that reported so far.

Obviously this is out of proportion compared to the rest of the district, though.

Looks that way, lets hope the last round of polls hold up.

Looks like the Beacon News website is slow

Kane County's results website already has 26 precincts reporting alone. I think that it contains 50-60% of the district's voters, so it will obviously be very crucial.

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 03:43PM | 0 recs
With 33 precincts reporting

Foster is closing the gap in Kane county: down only 3 points right now.

He's behind in DuPage County, but there aren't many voters there, and ahead in DeKalb County.

Re: With 33 precincts reporting

I'll update above with only Beacon news results and allow individual reporting to continue down here in the comments.

Tallying the results by county website

Foster is currently AHEAD 9315-9260

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 03:49PM | 0 recs
Looks like a close race

Foster 12198-12082 right now. But I can't find results for Kendall County so this might be off

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 03:54PM | 0 recs
Results right now

Foster 14763-14142. But most of Foster's margin comes from DeKalb County, which is 60% done reporting.

Foster has pulled ahead in KAne County

by 58 votes out of more than 20,000!

by Walt Starr 2008-03-08 04:01PM | 0 recs
And loses it with 93 precincts reporting

In the district as a whole, Foster now lead 21071-19107 with 197 precincts reporting

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 04:06PM | 0 recs
With 219 precincts
Foster now 23531-21175
He's retaken the lead in Kane County as well.

Kane County REsults with 47 precincts reporting

Jim Oberweis
 7740 50.78%

Bill Foster
 7389 48.48%

HE's tightening up the gap...

Moving in the right direction!  up two percentage points with only 7 more precincts reporting.

Re: Live Blogging the IL-14 results

This will be a feather in Obama's cap if Foster wins.

And a great diss to Republicans for losing Hastert's seat.

Foster takes the lead in Kane County!
With 80 reporting
If these trends continue, he'll win easily.

Re: Live Blogging the IL-14 results

Come on, Foster, HOLD THAT LEAD!

by Walt Starr 2008-03-08 04:11PM | 0 recs
Looking at trends right now

Oberweis doesn't have a clear lead in any large county- most of them are really ties so far. He's ahead in Henry County, but that only has a thousand or so voters. The only large county in which he has a lead is Kendall, but that's only by 4%. Foster, on the other hand, is winning by large margins in Aurora and DeKalb County. I don't see Oberweis winning unless there's a clear shift in the race, or he wins counties such as Lee (that haven't yet began reporting) by huge margins.

Re: Live Blogging the IL-14 results

This could be called soon.

by Walt Starr 2008-03-08 04:26PM | 0 recs
I'm calling this for Foster

He's up 6% with 75% in. Oberweis will need a landslide in Lee to win. I don't see that happening

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 04:27PM | 0 recs
Re: I'm calling this for Foster

75%??? where are you getting those results from?

by LordMike 2008-03-08 04:30PM | 0 recs
Individual county websites

I'm adding them up in Excel. Much faster than the Beacon News :)

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 04:31PM | 0 recs
From my calculations

Almost every county other than Lee is in right now. Oberweis is down by 1% even if he manages to win 70% of the vote in Lee County. Foster won this.

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 04:31PM | 0 recs
Oberweis needs 79% of the vote in Lee now

Why isn't it reporting yet, anyone know? I'm reminded of the vote fraud trick in which county officials would hold back their results until they figure out how many votes their candidate would need to win.

by MILiberal 2008-03-08 04:39PM | 0 recs
Re: Oberweis needs 79% of the vote in Lee now

No way Lee can change it now. With 88% in, there is absolutely no way Oberweis can catch up now.

It's over.

Foster wins.

by Walt Starr 2008-03-08 04:44PM | 0 recs
Yeah

I was worried at first about fraud, and then found an unofficial Lee county results page - Oberweis only won it by 400 votes. And very few people voted compared to the number of precincts.

Interesting factoid:

This district includes the city of Dixon, which is the birthplace of Ronald Reagan.

Take that, conservative movement!
