John Edwards Picks Up Congressional Support

John Edwards received a large number of endorsements from Congressional Democrats in the past couple days. Currently, he is tied with Barack Obama among endorsements from sitting members of Congress.
Congressional endorsements are key for Edwards because he is not a current office holder. Congressional colleagues of Biden, Clinton, Dood, Obama and Kucinich are opting instead to go with the former senator from North Carolina.
Just who is endorsing Edwards and what are they saying about him?

The John Edwards for President campaign announced today that Congressman Charlie Gonzalez endorsed Senator John Edwards as the Democratic nominee for President.
"Among his many efforts to help working Americans, John Edwards has been a tireless advocate for raising the minimum wage. In 2006, he criss-crossed the nation to help pass ballot initiatives raising the minimum wage in six states, since the previous Republican-led Congress refused to raise the federal minimum wage. John Edwards is focused on strengthening our middle class and lifting more Americans out of poverty."

The John Edwards for President campaign announced today that former congressman and 2006 Texas gubernatorial candidate Chris Bell endorsed Senator John Edwards as the Democratic nominee for President.
"I am pleased to announce my endorsement of John Edwards for President. Having traveled the state in my run for governor in 2006, I know what Texas Democrats are looking for in a candidate and a leader, and John Edwards is it. If we want to take back the White House, we need a candidate who can fight and win everywhere in the country, including here in Texas. I am convinced that nobody will work harder for the values that Texas Democrats believe in, especially by fighting every day for people who work for a living."
