(AP) A Chicago lawyer linked to the public corruption scandal involving Barack Obama's controversial political patron planned to co-host a fundraiser Monday for Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Myron Cherry, a longtime Democratic fundraiser, appeared in a federal indictment against Antoin "Tony" Rezko, who faces extortion and fraud charges related to an Illinois public pension fund.
Called "Individual H" in the indictment, Cherry allegedly was to receive a fee for a fraudulent investment deal cooked up by Rezko, even though he did no work.
Cherry is not charged with any crime and is cooperating with investigators. He has publicly denied doing anything wrong. His connection to Rezko could be problematic for Clinton, as her chief rival, Obama, has been dogged throughout his presidential campaign by questions about his relationship with Rezko.
Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer declined to comment.

'Smoking Gun' Clinton Tape Released to Public
The video described in a civil suit as "smoking gun" evidence that Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) committed felonies became available on the Internet Friday.
On the tape the former first lady and leading Democratic presidential contender is heard speaking in 2000 with Hollywood mogul Peter Paul, comic book icon Stan Lee, and director Aaron Tonkin about a massive fundraising event for her 2000 Senate race. Paul spent about $2 million of his own money to produce the event but later had a fallout with the Clintons.
If she helped to plan the event, it could legally constitute a direct hard money donation to Clinton's Senate campaign, rather than to her joint fundraising committee called New York Senate 2000. If that is the case, the donation from Paul would be 10 times the legal limit of $2,000. Knowingly soliciting a contribution of $25,000 or more is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
The conversation appears to show Clinton actively helping to plan the event. The suit alleges that she violated federal campaign finance laws by directly soliciting a contribution from Paul.

"This critical funding will expand access to health care in medically underserved areas, increase desperately needed research on autism, and improve services and decrease costs by modernizing our medical record system." Said Senator Obama. "While we still must do a lot more to make health care affordable and to expand health coverage to every American, federal investment in these programs is a critical down payment toward improving health care for Illinois residents."

A bipartisan amendment put forth by Senators Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is critical to putting immigration reform back on the right track, according to the nation's home builders.
"Everyone has a stake in reforming the nation's immigration laws in a fair and just manner that will enhance our border security and provide a sensible process for people to enter our country legally," said Jerry Howard, executive vice president and CEO of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). "The Grassley/Baucus/Obama amendment would help achieve these aims by improving the bill's employer provisions to allow small business owners to play a constructive role in the enforcement of the new laws."

- Hillary Clinton checks in as the "creepiest" candidate in the hunt for the White House, a new Forbes magazine online character poll has found.
A full 15 percent of Americans say Clinton gives them the creeps - including 20 percent of men, compared to 10 percent of females.
No other active candidate comes close to Clinton, who's taken hits from pundits for getting shrill on the speaking stump, making people's hairs stand on end.
