Clinton Should Schedule a Florida Victory Party

The deal struck between the candidates and the DNC whereby the candidates agreed not to campaign in the early states includes the following language:
THEREFORE, I pledge I shall not campaign or participate in any state which schedules a presidential election primary or caucus before Feb. 5, 2008, except for the states of Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina, as "campaigning" is defined by the rules and regulations of the DNC. It does not include activities specifically related to raising campaign resources such as fundraising events or the hiring of fundraising staff.
And here is a portion of the relevant DNC rules defining "campaigning," as referenced in the pledge:
A presidential candidate who campaigns in a state where the state party is in violation of the timing provisions of these rules, or where a primary or caucus is set by a state's government on a date that violates the timing provisions of these rules, may not receive pledged delegates or delegate votes from that state. Candidates may, however, campaign in such a state after the primary or caucus that violates these rules. (emphasis added)
Some people think that nobody is going to notice the tree falling in Florida's primary forest next Tuesday night. I'm skeptical.
Everybody knows Florida is the Big Kahuna for the general election. I just can't see Hillary's getting half a million votes and a 20-point victory in Florida as being something that doesn't even dent the national consciousness during a week of intense political tea-leaf-reading.
In fact, I would be willing to bet that the number of votes Clinton gets in Florida will exceed the total number of votes Obama has received in all caucuses and elections to date, including Florida. Any takers?
Another factor: the Florida/Michigan delegate-count elephant in the room is going to be getting much larger and it will want more bananas.
But in case you still don't think the Florida Democratic primary is going to get play, there's something Hillary Clinton can do to ensure that it gets publicity, and it's something that is explicitly permitted by the agreement and the DNC rules, as outlined above.
She can hold a big ole victory party in the ballroom of the fanciest hotel in downtown Miami. If the polls close at 8:00, her jet can touch down on the tarmac at 8:05 and she can arrive at the party at the appropriate time for a victory speech.
Nothing Obama can do about it except whine some more, and we see what that's been buying him so far.
