The Democratic effort is not good enough

It is becoming abundantly clear that the effort being made by the Democratic Congress is not good enough.

Time is slipping by and there is no coordinated, consensus effort to engage the issues of Iran, Iraq, or impeachment. Democratic leaders like Murtha who try to lead are quickly marginalized.

Meanwhile, Scooter Libby's trial has placed on the record attested to by jury verdict the pure fact of Bush and Cheney having lied us into war. Speaker Pelosi? Senator Reid? Anything you want to do here?

Crickets.

I knew without a doubt that the Democratic Congress would disappoint us. But I hoped that the political undertow would pull us along toward meaningful progress. I think the Party has managed to do what I didn't think possible: disappoint even my low expectations. I am sorry. I have no answers here. It seems to me that SOMEONE SOMEWHERE has to consolidate the deep running American desire for change into a fist we can direct at the heads of the Party leaders. Something must be done to fracture the complacency by which these idiots think they can just hang on until '08. We can't accomplish anything except through them, and they are refusing to even enter the ring. Anyone want to lead that effort? I can't. I can write a few letters and volunteer some time for local DEMs. I can post lame posts on a forum like this. But I have no real influence. And there are millions like me, yearning, praying for someone to organize us. Anyone? Bowers? Stoller? Kos? Firedog Lake? Avarosis? If someone leads a meaningful, coordinated effort to kick the Democratic Party in the ass, I will sign on. Who will lead us?

Organize Yourself

Lead Yourself

Bowers, Stoller, FDL, etc. are just people, like yourself. They have taken meaningful steps to "kick the Democratic Party in the ass".

But they are not elected officials, just people who have decided to dedicate their time and effort to shaping political discourse in ways they deem productive.

They can apply pressure, (i.e. Use It or Lose It, or the way they have handled the Fox Dem Debate) but there is only so much that they can do.

YOU, sir, can also lead.
You have said that you can write letters and post on blogs, what else?

Can you not study the scene for yourself, find a point where pressure can be helpfully applied, and lead people to apply such pressure?

You must also lead, and not just cry out to be led.

Good luck.
