There are countless examples of people running for office before serving in other public service positions.

Chelsea is clearly ineligible for Hillary's seat due to age. But pretending she shouldn't get it because she's not displayed a sufficient "committment to public service" first seems silly unless you agree all those other similarly newbie pols are undeserving as well.

This is patently false. The children of the Teddy, Bobby, Jack generation are politicians. Ted's son is a congressman. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend was Lt. Gov. of MD. Many are suggesting Caroline for important gov't positions, and JFK Jr. was often mentioned in political circles as a future politician. RFK jr. has been mentioned as a replacement for Hillary.

And most of the Southern states are machine states when it comes to primaries. The party leaders in the counties decide who wins in those counties.

Ohio is no more "machine" that Maryland or Wisconsin.
