CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker

Well, these blokes on cable TV just keep drivin' up the female vote for Hillary...Go for it, guys!  You have know idea how your sexism helps our GOTV efforts.  Dumbos.

Here's Ken Rudin, "NPR Political Editor" sharing a long guffaw with CNN's "Media Matters" moderator (sorry, don't know his name) after comparing Hillary to the stalker character played by Glen Close in "Fatal Attraction"....

Ok, all you gals (and enlightened guys)....donate your latte funds today, in honor of the Cable TV Asses (CTAs):

Oh, jeez...

What is it with these media pundit fools making all these misogynistic slurs at Hillary? And why do they get away with it?

Re: CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker

You never know what people will say.

I saw someone refer to Barack Obama as "uppity" the other day, then claim they never knew the word had racist overtones.

Go figure.

Uppity has sexist overtones, too.

Re: Uppity has sexist overtones, too.

True. And I think it was a woman who said it about Obama, too.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Re: CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker

In a New York Times profile of the Obama-Wright relationship in April 2007, Wright himself predicted such a split based on the controversial remarks that were already under some scrutiny. "If Barack gets past the primary, he might have to publicly distance himself from me," Wright told the paper over a year ago. "I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen."

Re: CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker
Oh please, just because she gets compared to a female character in a movie, it's now consideded Sexist!  You "gals" have cried wolf once to often. Now you're just giving feminism a bad name.

don't call us gals

And take off your tag line if you plan to act badly.  TR'd for aggressive sexism.

Re: don't call us gals

Just out of curiosity, why is it okay for the diarist to use the term "gals"?

by fogiv 2008-04-29 02:14PM | 0 recs
Re: don't call us gals

it's a context thing that is aimed at females (didn't say guys too did you), to send women to our hate filled blogs. It's mean, and insulting, and you can live with a doughnut.   You may not think that the joke was sexist but you might show some respect for those that do?  If you want to learn, then if someone says they're offended, don't mock them over it and use bully words toward them?   it's adding insult to insult. I you disagreed, you could have made a polite case, tried to show how it's a compliment or that it equally applies to other groups, or whatever. Does that satisfy your curiosity?

Re: don't call us gals

I was refering to darlin"s personal hate filled blog. Although hillaryis44 and taylormarsh would certainly qualify also. And if you can't understand "  " , then I'm afraid I can't help you there.

than say her name and receive the punishment that this site gives for attacks on specific bloggers?  Look the guy below is all upset cause he jumped in to defend you.  I just down appreciate hate speech.

Re: don't call us gals

You need to take a step back.  DO you intend for this to reply to me, or the original poster?

I was simply wondering if the use of "gals" was in and of itself, offensive.  The original poster used in in quotations, which seemed to me to reference the diarist use of the term (who also emplyed "guys").

By all means, disagree with Venecian's comment as you see fit, but it's got nothing to do with me.

by fogiv 2008-04-29 03:04PM | 0 recs
Re: don't call us gals

I directed it to the poster but I answered your question.

by anna shane 2008-04-29 05:39PM | 0 recs
Re: don't call us gals

Why don't you ask someone from your own camp why they keep using the word gal? That's why I put it in quotes.

by venician 2008-04-29 02:20PM | 0 recs
Re: don't call us gals

"gal" is used as the gender opposite of "guy" in this playful or informal context.

Stop troll rating inappropriately.  You'll get kicked out for that.

as you will for writing repetitive, over the top candidate diaries.  This is the 3rd diary about this so far...and you brought what new to party?  A clever use of the term "gal"?

This is the crap that i hate when our

supporters try to justify, explain, rationalize and excuse this kind primitive Neanderthal kind of sexism.

Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction was not just a character in a movie. She was a crazy psychopathic stalker who tried to kill her lover and boiled his pet. How can you justify comparing Glenn Close character to Senator Clinton for the love of god? And then when Senator Clinton supporters criticize our candidate, you call them racists.

Don't you think your remarks are full of disgusting (learn to spell by the way) hate for women?

Oh god, sometimes your guys make me sick to my stomach.

Didn't you get the memo!!

For christ sakes.  Since you missed it, I'll fill you in.  Racism is unacceptable.  Sexism is fine.  Come on now.  Get with the program.

have you SEEN the movie?  if you had - you would understand why its a sexist and horrible remark.

Re: CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker

Who'd a thought Keith Olbermann would beat you too it. And you might not want to attribute it to CNN. It was NPR's Ken Rudin who said it. Just cuz it gets spoken on a network doesn't mean it's endorsed by the network. Come on now.

by Todd Beeton 2008-04-29 02:22PM | 0 recs
Re: CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker

true, Todd, but the CNN guy got a big ole laugh out of it and didn't call the NPR guy on it.

by TexasDarlin 2008-04-29 02:27PM | 0 recs
Re: CNN: Hillary is a Bunny Cooker

Rudin sounds so clueless it's almost pitiable.  Almost.  Except that comments like that on national TV, and the phony banter around them, aren't spontaneous accidents.  They're scripted in advance.  He even he reinforced his remark later, in case anyone missed it.

By the way, NPR has been thoroughly subsumed by the right-wing, thanks to their dependence on corporate sponsorship.  You can be sure the Hillary-as-bunny-boiler imagery was authorized from on high.

Hmm...not as insulting as it first appears

In a way, he appears to be complimenting her in a rather flippant manner.  Her fortitude, doggedness, and resiliancy, after all, are part of what many of us like about her and have contributed to the respect she's earned as this process continues.
