She already ran as a VP, basically, Bill Clinton's VP. And like most veeps in recent history...she lost. If someone is trying to use a VP position as a springboard to the presidency they tend to end up disappointed. When you run as a former VP you are tied to someone else's administration and thus their failures and inadequacies. We're much better served by getting a veep who DOESN'T want to run for president, someone freed up from those pressures and not looking at Barack as a potential liability all the time.
It really cuts both ways here. Obama triumphed over racial AND religious discrimination (the muslim rumors, and he's not even a muslim!) and had he not there'd be a whole other can of worms to open. Hillary did not run against a conventional opponent.
The rift between establishment feminism and women of color is widening rapidly and perhaps irrevocably - and it was never exactly small to begin with. I'm a white woman but I'm not blind and I see it happening. All you have to do is visit any forum for black women and you'll see it too. If we can't accept that bad things happened on both sides of the border and MOVE ON TOGETHER we may NEVER be together. Not in 5 months. Not ever. This is a crucial moment in the history of feminism, and it is being botched.
Respectful? So you enjoyed being called a "bully boy" constantly? Hell, I was even called a bully boy, and I'm a woman. I'm not trying to start shit with someone who isn't here to defend herself, but there were plenty of gracious, graceful Hillary bloggers who deserve acclaim over Alegre. Alegre's voice wasn't the kindest, it was the loudest.
If she comes here and apologizes for her sexist language, that would be great. Until then, there is no need to salute one blogger out of many, many others who carried Hillary's mantle in a SANE, PRODUCTIVE way.
the internet has truly hit its stride between 2004 and 2008 and this was the first YouTube election. You may as well thicken the skin and get used to the constant rollercoaster of soundbite drama because it's only going to get worse. It sucks and the petty shit was raining down over BOTH sides, but that is going to be elections from now on and if you're going to leave a party over it you may as well leave the whole system and become a non-voter. The drama isn't going to get any better, sadly.
