Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

The method by which politicians (especially Democrats) are smeared are not always obvious. Usually it's in the form of a "news" report, sometimes by reporting on the reports of a rumor that is unfounded. Then, every so often, Fox News makes statements so depressing they're actually kind of funny (don't worry, you only need to watch the first five seconds and there'll be antibiotics after the break):

A fist bump? A pound? A terrorist fist jab?

What the...

For those of you who are curious but cannot stomach the next three minutes of Fox, Media Matters mentions that "at no point did she explain her earlier reference to 'a terrorist fist jab.'"

A Google search for "terrorist fist jab" will only yield stories about the blonde and the segment in question. However, reports from before the segment actually aired give an idea of the phrase's origin. Apparently, a commenter on Cal Thomas's blog made the remark, since deleted, that dap was actually a "Hezbollah style fist-jab". It somehow jumped from that one comment all the way up the chain to lead into a Fox News story.

Fox News: Reporting the most offensive troll comments on conservative blogs in a fair and balanced manner.

Re: Fox and Pop Culture

That news network's version of understanding and knowing pop culture is watching reruns of Happy Days with a warm glass of mile and chocolate chip cookies.

Re: Obama's Terrorist-Style Fist Jab

It's amazing how the nuttiest ideas are promoted upwards within Republican media.

I saw a picture today of Obama and the NC governor doing one of those.

The title of the diary is

reinscribing the notion that there is such a thing as a "terrorist fist jab"  - maybe use quotes around it?

Just sayin'

Re: The title of the diary is

Done and done.

And, for posterity:

Found the pic in a similar story on dKos after I put this up.

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

Is this all they've got?

I'm REALLY glad I'm not a Republican.

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

First, this campaign has drastically lowered my opinion of the mass media, not because of the bias or sexism but because they seem to get their news...from US!  Quoting blogs, using blogs as a source of information...it's very odd.  What happened to journalism?

Don't get me wrong...there are SOME journalists on the blogs...but most of us are just passionate supporters of candidates, parties, or ideals who write about those things from an advocacy position.

Second, a TERRORIST FIST JAB?  Gimme a break.

Would be nice if this made some here

finally stop defending Fox News as "fair and balanced."

Unfortunately, I doubt it will. Lotta folks were brainwashed this primary season.

Colbert should do a segment on bears and their terrorist fist jabs.

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

Classic Fox News question mark technique.  Honestly, I admire their level of commitment to non-sense.

I was just teaching myself 16 Military Wives by The Decembrists, and the chorus comes to mind.

"And the anchor person on TV goes 'La de da de da."

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

I hear LJ knows someone who knows someone who saw a tape where Michelle Obama does a fist pound with Arafat in 2007.

Now, some might say that this is unlikely, since Arafat was dead by 2007, but those people are Obamanauts.

"FYI, for those expecting to SEE the tape, GET REAL. Read Larry Johnson's description of what is ON the tape. That is the story."

Please.  Don't even try to come in here with your Obamamedicine.  What are you, some kind of Obamamortician?

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

Michelle was proud of America only once as an adult: When the people chose her husband as the Democratic nominee.

by kingsbridge77 2008-06-09 08:03PM | 0 recs
That is not true

And has nothing to do with this topic.

Wow. Two for two.

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

"For the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country ... not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change," she said. "I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.

I actually found this quote at Fox News, which means Fox News is more accurate in regard to the wife of the Democratic nominee than you are.  And they just accused them of a terrorist fist pound.

And Laura Bush is much fairer and accurate.

Why do you feel the need to lie about Michelle Obama?

See Now If It Was Still Primary Season

Certain Clinton supporters on this site would be pushing this meme, claiming that Obama couldn't be elected because the repubs could tie him to terrorism.

Re: Obama's "Terrorist Fist Jab"?

Name her and shame her: E.D. Hill.

She's staked out her own little spot in idiot history by saying those words.

What I want to know is, who wrote them for her?

And NOW

Does EVERYONE realize why the Dems boycotted Fox News?

A big internet kick in the ass for all the dead enders here that defended Fox news as anything but self parodying propaganda.
