I just want to chime in and say thanks, Chris. Your continued diligence on this topic at MyDD means so much to me and all of us out here who work so hard to get financial support.  BlogAds really make a big difference to me and my radio show, but also to my readers and listeners who do what they can financially, but shouldn't be our only means of financial support. We bring a lot to the table for corporations, publishers, etc. Our work is very important and we earn the right to be paid.

Again, just thanks for all you do.

  • If you're interested, I've got quite a few YouTubes up (still available so far) on how the Nevada media played it.  They were sympathetic to the nurses because they had the righteous hand. Also, I interviewed nurses, as well as the politicos (including Harry Reid's son, Rory, who is a county commissioner) who were brought in to mediate the situation.  Podcasts of my radio show are available on my blog or you can hit the link in Nancy's post, which will show tags at the top, which you can click, then follow.

I so wanted to be at this conference, Matt.  Trying to get there proved impossible after my D.C. trip last week.

On behalf of other progressive talk radio hosts without a home (except online: http://www.taylormarsh.com/taylor_marsh_ live.php), one item rings out: The Fairness Doctrine.

If Maria Leavey was still alive she'd second my request.

    Best to you,

  • comment on a post ORDINARY HEROES over 5 years ago

I didn't see this earlier yesterday, but when I did I just had to comment.  Mike Stark is one of the few people who get the importance of wingnut radio.  Since I actually do radio, and since I became acquainted with Mike, I've been thrilled to see him push back hard on these damaging Republican hosts.  Since he's also a Marine, I would say, given all of his work and service, he's actually an extraordinary hero, but a hero for sure.

Hello Captain Parrot.  Thank you so much for your service, sir.  I couldn't agree with you more about George Allen.  James Webb deserves to beat Allen, and we're going to get that done. I thank you so much for stepping up and speaking out.

Let me know when Empowering Veterans is up and I'll do all I can to support your efforts.

  • comment on a post Donna Edwards Speaks over 5 years ago

I had the pleasure of meeting Donna Edwards back at Take Back America, even doing an interview with her.  I never got a transcript down because of background noise in the room, which made the tape inaudible, but her passion and courage never left my mind.  Her command of the issues was (and is) impressive.  She would make a great Democratic representative.

    I agree, go Donna.

  • comment on a post why Howie Klein is a netroots hero over 5 years ago

I was doing some late night research, which I do every night, and came upon this post.  I have to tell you that not only is Howie Klein a netroots hero, but in the middle of all his work he took  the time to walk me through learning to raise money for candidates.  I would have been lost in that world.  I've been on the web longer than most people, though mainly writing for others. Anyway, I can't say enough good things about Howie Klein.

As a person who does radio, I think you were terrific, Matt.  My favorite moment was the unicorn line.  But talk about being on message, yessiree.

$250 million being spent every day in Iraq means we don't have that money to spend here.  Do people realize that the airlines do not have a unified terrorist watch list?  We're about to come up on the one year marker on Katrina, but New Orleans is still in shambles.  If you couple that with the debilitated state of our National Guard and military, we're not only in trouble, but we're actually a lot more vulnerable.

Republicans simply must be held accountable.

I can sure appreciate that, Christopher.

Check the update, Michael, where I offer Hunter's contact information, as well as an interesting email from Tony Snesko.

    The pressure is on.

Well done, Chris.  Very exciting to wake up to this news today.  A collective thank you for jumping in.

Frist could never have found his spine on his own.  Roberts we know is in the veep's pocket.  Alberto Gonzales said on "Charlie Rose" that Dick Cheney is the real NSA expert. I don't think it's a stretch to believe that Deadeye is back.  Insert your favorite "loaded for ...." here.

"... But 4th District GOP Chairman Kevin Sell disagreed and said President Bush's support will be a huge asset for Davis. "The president is admired in this district," Sell said. "He is not going to sit back and allow this district to go to the Democrats." ..." President to help Davis Run

I'm anything but an expert on this race, but looking at the news behind the headlines, sounds like someone else is worried about Ken Lucas and that Geoff Davis might not be able to pull this one off.  Stuart Rothenberg should at least log on and read a few things online so he doesn't come off looking, well, so very wrong.

I don't do what you do, Chris, so I find your work invaluable, not to mention accessible.  Maybe that's the real problem for old Stu.

  • comment on a post How Progressives Talk about Abortion over 6 years ago

In the 21st century there is only one place to stand when it comes to abortion: PREVENTION. Period.  Progressive Democrats must talk about contraception, supporting Plan B and getting it made available, and communing with parents and giving them information and the tools they need about what happens to kids when they're uninformed, or when abstinence goes south.

In addition, it is my humble opinion that we must walk away from the horrendous spectacle of expecting our candidates to parade on stage at events like NARAL had blasted over CSPAN during the 2004 primaries.  Speaking at a NARAL event is different, but again, the subject must focus on prevention.

We are a pro-choice party, which is more than clear to the American people.  But our rhetoric casts out the attention of anyone of faith or spiritual depth, myself included, though I'm definitely more on the rebel side of the whole religious debate.

Frankly, we have an obligation to do more with our rhetoric and policies, because in this age of medical advancement there is no excuse whatsoever for an unplanned pregnancy, none.  To the extent there are so many, Democrats must take part of the blame.  We have not done enough to push prevention, because everyone gets into no-win debates about when life begins. Instead, we must fight for access and openly question why pharmacists are allowed to ignore prescriptions.  Why corporations can break the law over equal access to health care when it comes to women's needs, which really are a man's needs too.  Candidates must be taught to turn the subject to prevention every time.  When prevention fails, for most Democrats and some Republicans, the choice left is obvious.

It also must become part of the progressive mantra that liberated women and men be expected to take on more personal responsibility for their choices.  It is our duty to say so unequivocally.

The language is PREVENTION, "safe, legal and rare."  Then when pushed we say, yes, abortion is legal, but our fight today, in the modern era, is before the pregnancy, not after it's too late.
