Great Dem. Convention 'McCain's House Keys' Idea from Joeyess & Add your own Ideas here

Joeyess put up a great youtube of an idea for the Dem. convention.  Remember the purple heart bandaids at the GOP convention?

Well Paul Begala made the point that Obama needs to use his convention not just to be positive but also to "hammer" McCain with a 2x4.

check out this idea

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8 /21/20509/4680/327/572246

Wouldn't it be cool if at every Obama event people took out a big wad of keys and jingled them instead of applause and have shirts that said "McCain's house keys"?

Here's another diary with more ideas to make fun of "all the things that McCain forgets" that could be incorporated into the convention.  Could you imagine a responsive crowd saying "tell me something John McCain forgets" with the speaker listing off things?  How cool would that be in primetime?

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/8 /21/165959/660/495/572094

...remembering your involvement in the Keating Five,

...remembering that you were AGAINST overturning Roe vs. Wade before you were FOR overturning Roe vs. Wade,

...given that you were against the Bush Tax cuts before you were FOR the Bush tax cuts,

...remembering that you were grinning over cake while New Orleans was sinking,

the list could go on and on.

Anyhow rec this diary if you think the Dems should use gimmickry at the convention and not just be positive....

Bush Grocery Scanner->Bush/McCain Golf Cart 520$ shoes-> McCain's houses

the only thing saving McCain is there's no video..

but still remember papa Bush not recognizing a grocery scanner?

there's the image of Bush senior and McCain at Kennebunkport wearing the $520 loafers in the golf cart.

Just use those images with McCain not knowing how many houses he owns...

Obama/DNC: Where's the Ad on McCain not knowing how many houses he owns?

listening to Bill Press, an older less aggressive democratic pundit says  "we should see an ad today on McCain not knowing how many houses he owns".

McCain's campaign says they only own 4 which is demostrably false.  He may only be able to spend time in four, but newsweek estimated 7 while other sources say 10.

http://www.mccainvminnesota.com/cribs.ht ml

Rachel Maddow says 9.  Of course when you own that many houses it's hard to keep track of paying taxes for all of them.

http://www.newsweek.com/id/143775/

When you're poor, it can be hard to pay the bills. When you're rich, it's hard to keep track of all the bills that need paying. It's a lesson Cindy McCain learned the hard way when NEWSWEEK raised questions about an overdue property-tax bill on a La Jolla, Calif., property owned by a trust that she oversees. Mrs. McCain is a beer heiress with an estimated $100 million fortune and, along with her husband, she owns at least seven properties, including condos in California and Arizona.

'hothead' 'trigger-happy' 'reckless' McCain: please don't stop

today on a conference call the obama team of susan rice and richard clarke made many great points.

You can listen here:

wonderful easy to understand phrases like "trigger happy""reckless""shoot first ask questions later"

hopefully Obama knows he must now repeat , repeat, repeat this memo.

Everyone knows "McNasty" was Mccain's nickname and his volcanic temper.

I'm praying we see an add with components of Dr. Strangelove and The Daisy Ad
with McCain in it....

Please Obama make it...

If it's not Hillary or Biden Obama better prepare for Incoming

I think Hillary and Biden both would be solid choices at this point, particularly given the rumored short list.

I'd love to be proven wrong and have either Webb, Clark or even Sherrod Brown instead.

However, given the short list Bayh is so awful, that it's rumored he was only mentioned to make other candidates seem better.

Kaine is not even that popular anymore in his home state and would have to be introduced with Obama to the country at the same time.

Sebelius would be okay if she could get a speaking class, but if she's the pick Obama should have introduced her long ago and sent her on an overseas trip.

Hillary or Biden would be fine.  Obama either needs an attack dog or someone who can hold their own on the economy.

Hillary would be a great headfake/manipulation of the media...

'The McCain You Don't Know' to be Unveiled During GOP convention

I have it from an inside source that everyday during the GOP convention Obama and the DNC will unveil a new ad to highlight the McCain you don't know.  Each day will highlight a new theme with a McCain characteristic swing voters don't know about.

Monday:  "Hothead" -   there will be a TV ad highlighting McCain's "volcanic" temper.  I'm told this will be a recreation of the Daisy ad with a mushroom cloud but a modern update.  Video of McCain promising "more wars", 100 years in Iraq, "bomb Iran" as well as numerous quotes of fellow republicans saying how unstable he is and how it gives them "chills" thinking of McCain with his hand on the button.

Tuesday:  "Corrupt" - will reintroduce McCain's prominent role in the "keating 5 scandal" and lobbyists funding and running his campaign.  Will also introduce Carole McCain as the wife McCain committed adultery on, which he will take the blame for in his own words.

Wednesday:  "out of touch" -  will introduce voters to McCain's family wealth  with  video of him saying 5 million is middle class, his wife saying you need a private jet to get around in arizona, and McCain himself calling social security is a "disgrace".  I'm told McCain's 520$ loafers with him in the golf cart will papa Bush will also be used as a visual.

Thursday:   "Wrong" - will be the final day theme.  The TV ad will feature video of McCain saying the iraq oil will pay for the war and the war will be quick.  Further the ad will show McCain from this year saying how great the economy is.  The visual of approval of Bush and McCain increasingly agreeing with Bush will be the last part of the ad.

The genius is amplified because at the end of each ad... Instead of showing Obama, while saying "i'm barack obama and I approve this message" the famous picture of bush hugging McCain on the head like his mentally challenged step brother will be the exact closing visual for EACH ad.

the day McCain announces his VP - 2 or 3 days before the GOP convention. The counter-theme will be announced and start an ad

"Dazed and Confused" - with McCain looking like Elmer Fudd, stunned when asked if women should have birth control covered like Viagra. McCain saying he doesn't know much about the economy, and botching the price of gasoline

Wouldn't it be cool if Obama actually did this???(or the DNC)  with real ad buys and real air time?

Free Republic May Have Caught McCain/Solzhenitsyn Plagiarism First

In what I'd consider a good thing - the right wing Free Republic site may have found the Solzhenitsyn connection first.

A daily kos diarist Karmic Spirit found the archive.

It's actually a really good thing to connect McCain's plagiarism to
Free Republic politically.  Isn't that the group that focused on Rathergate?

Perhaps McCain is making obvious Christian statements to gain support for 2008.

You dare to doubt his sincerity ?!?!?

Perhaps McCain is making obvious Christian statements to gain support for 2008.

Unfortunately, that is what crossed my mind too.

He is a media whore as his 'campaign finance reform bill' and his 'terrorism bill' prove.

McCain's book is sub-titled "Me, Myself and I".

I absolutely HATE it when this guy extorts his veteranism or POW stuff. Any vet I now worth his salt never ever ever discusses his/her service. EVER. You look at them, they look at you, and you just respect them. Thats it.

This guy is, well, the Moderator won't let me say it (and keep my post).

The beauty of this type of comment out of McCain, is how can you challenge it? I've laid off comments about his imprisonment for much the same reason. I wasn't there and don't know all the facts. He could say J.C. Himself came to visit him in the P.O.W. prision, and I'd have to stand back and wonder...

I can't put my finger on it precisely, but something about John McCain rings as phoney as a three dollar bill. I don't trust him and most often find myself thinking he's only in this for his own personal gain. Perhaps it's the fact that he gets his mug on the tube more than anyone I know of.

I don't want John McCain anywhere near the White House in an offical capacity of any kind. That being said, some of the people I've supported have screwed the pooch as far as I am concerned. Who knows, John McCain might surprise me in the other direction if given a chance.

To: OldFriend; The Mayor
Hmmmm. Looks like McCain has been reading Solzhenitsyn.

From The Mayor's daily posts at FR's Finest and The Canteen from the devotional "Our Daily Bread" comes Sunday's reading...

World-famous Russian author Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was sent to a Siberian prison because he criticized communism. Languishing there under intolerable conditions year after year, he decided to end his life. But suicide, he firmly believed, would be against God's will. He thought it would be better for a guard to shoot him.

So at a public assembly of the prisoners, he sat in a front row, planning to get up and walk toward an exit, compelling a guard to kill him. But to his surprise, another prisoner sat down, blocking his exit. That unknown man leaned over and, to Solzhenitsyn's astonishment, drew a cross on the dirt floor.

The cross! Wondering if that fellow prisoner might be a messenger from God, Solzhenitsyn resolved to endure his imprisonment. There in prison he became a Christian and was eventually set free to bear witness to the world.

Are you in the grip of difficult circumstances? Have you wondered if life is worth living? Focus your heart on the cross--it is the message of God's love, forgiveness, and saving grace for you. Invite the Christ of Calvary with His transforming power into your life. Discover for yourself that the Christ of the cross can change you. --Vernon Grounds

The cross is my hope for eternity--
No merit have I of my own;
The shed blood of Christ my only plea--
My trust is in Jesus alone. --Christiansen

I think it is a great think that IF Obama wanted to he could blame a right wing site for doubting McCain on this story.

as is started to be appreciated the POW card is being played relentlessly as a get out of jail free card.

Update: Did McCain/Salter Steal Cross in the Dirt from Solzhenitsyn?

The biggest mistake Obama MAY have made at the "faith" forum was actually respecting the moderator's stated desire to not "use stump speeches".  I guess to the pundits not following directions is a good thing.

Anyhow, I had previously heard McCain's story  about how on Christmas a vietnamese guard drew a cross in the sand to show his christian faith to McCain.  Just curious how many north vietnamese were Christian in 1968?

Anyhow I've heard this cross in the dirt story from McCain a lot this campaign cycle but I don't recall hearing it from him before.

Why does this matter?  Well McCain and his campaign adviser Mark Salter published a book in 2007 called "Hard Call" in which they analyze many historical figures including Solzhenitsyn who just died this month.

Solzhenitsyn at Work
By JOHN McCAIN | August 4, 2008

This excerpt is drawn from "Hard Call: The Art of Great Decisions," (Twelve), which Senator McCain coauthored with Mark Salter. It is reprinted with permission of the book's publisher.

Clearly, Salter or McCain knew a lot about Solzhenitsyn as they published a book at least in part on him in 2007.

Did McCain ever tell the story about the cross in the dirt before 2007?

the question is this.... given that McCain Salter wrote a book covering Solzhenitsyn, did McCain ever tell this story before this book?

UPDATE: Just thought I'd ad that McCain's Campaign plagiarized recipes already in the campaign, and the hill accused McCain of plagiarizing entries from Wikipedia on Georgia.

McCain falsely invokes POW Card for Liking ABBA

short diary but it's amazing that anytime McCain needs to justify something he invokes his captivity in vietnam.

First there was his story that he told in Wisconsin while campaigning that he gave the name of the starting line for the Green bay packers to his captors in nam.  However, in his book he said it was the pittsburgh steelers.

Just now on MSNBC they played a clip of him saying "Dancing Queen" by ABBA was his favorite song because his tastes in music "stopped evolving when his plane intercepted a surface to air missile.

The only problem is that ABBA formed in 1972 and "Dancing Queen" was produced in 1975.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abba

Of course the surface to air missile incident was in 1967..

I know a small issue but this guy lies better and gets away with it more than anyone else I've ever seen.

Must See: Colmes of FauxNews Raises McCain's Infidelity in Response to Edwards

A lot of us have wondered why don't the Dems try to make some lemonade with the Edwards affair, especially since the legacy media has wall to wall coverage of the Edwards disaster.  A natural transition to McCain.

I'm hoping someone will start a series of commercials - even Web only - that expose the "McCain you don't know".   527?  Obama? etc..

anyhow the 9 houses and 520$ shoes could certainly fit into this series, the Keating 5 but so would McSame's first marriage....

Check out this YouTube...  there is no real response to justify McCain's first marriage.  Hannity says it was cause of being in a POW camp. (Cindy McCain was 6 years after coming back, and at this point McSame was a squadron leader FYI) Another GOPer says ya, but Clinton did it too.  Not a single person denies it.

Pretty funny watching Hannity set up the segment by saying how can anyone trust someone to be president if they were unfaithful, and then Colmes brings up McCain.. this segment is begging to be made into an ad. If Foxnews is saying McCain is unfit to be president what will others think

check it out...
