Re: A focus on the future, good news from the righ

How in the world the libertarians nominated Barr is beyond me.  But it makes me happy!  One of my good friends was thinking about becoming a lib and then read up on Barr and is now a firm Obamanaut.

The Paulites love him

from what I've found on the web, Obama does decent at keeping the left libs. for the most part so a lot of the Barr vote will come from McCain.

That and he gives them 'legitimacy'...

But we also want to siphon off the far-right

social conservatives to Barr as well. Remember, he wrote the law that is now the only line of defense between them and a San Francisco marriage.

Paint em blue!

Thanks for turning the page. This gives Obama more options especially if Florida sticks with McCame.

Interesting, timely(!) diary and I am looking forward to your insight on the GE.

If Barr can get a

Paul endorsement that would really help in Nevada, Colorado.  It doesn't seem likely that will happen but Paul has been making subtle noises to move his support over to Barr.

Re: If Barr can get a

Paul actually has a lot of support where I live in Missouri.  I would be so happy if he endorsed Barr and campaigned aggressively for him.

Re: If Barr can get a

Alaska. I wasn't kidding when I said that in a diary a little while ago that Alaska could be in play.

McCain only got 15% in the caucuses (less than Paul), the Republican party faces corruption scandals, Alaska can go for third-party candidates (Perot got almost 29% there, second most except for Maine).

Re: A focus on the future, good news from the righ

2% ?!?!

C'mon!  Barr can do better than that!  I'd love to see 5%.

I am being pessimistic

I am sure in some states he will get close to 10%, however in others he will barely break 1%.  I think he has great potential, but he will need funding and a Ronulan endorsement would do wonders for that.

Re: I am being pessimistic

Considering Paul's differences with McCain on the war, among other things, I'd not be too surprised to see that endorsement.

And, as someone who supports the rights of third parties, even when I don't support their candidates, I'd like to see him break that 5% threshold.  If he can get no votes in 49 states (+DC) and get ALL his votes in Ohio and Florida...well, then all the better!

Should we troll the other side?

Go over and pretend to be Paulbots who want to support Barr?  Anything to defeat John McCain!

Re: Should we troll the other side?

No.

We should be better than that.  No need to lie.

He'll spend our money quite happily, anyway.

He already polls well in the South

He pulls in 10% in Georgia (his home state) and about 6% in North Carolina. I know there are some folks here in East Tennessee that would support him. Paranoid fundamentalist Christian libertarian types who only live in Appalachia. Yes, we've got some colorful characters around here. And they'll love Bob Barr.

Here's a sample from my native Blount County, Tennessee:

Yes, they oppose flouride in the water.

The good thing about this station is that they broadcast local sports teams. But the proprietor is a certifiable nutcase who harasses our Republican county commission all the time.

Re: He already polls well in the South

Well they should oppose flouride in the water,  It's basically a toxic waste product which is mixed into the water at after a succesful lobby by the industry which creates flouride as a by-product to avoid disposal costs. The benefits were taken from trials with products like toothpaste which does offer benefits and extrapolated through dubious non peer reviewed company funded "research". Outside usage in toothpaste, flouride offers no health benefit at all.

And while usually harmless in the dosis ingested there are a few children with a lowered tolerance from stomach cramps when combined with a slate of other flouride products. While certainly not a real health risk or the biggest of problem a rational case against flouride can be made on the basis that there is no real scientific basis on the health benefits of adding flouride to water.

How can you stand

to hang around those crazy Paulbots? They're weirder than hell. This good news, though, so thanks for taking one for the team to bring us this information!

It isn't too bad when I play

a chaos trool or concern troll, but when I try to act like them it is enough to make one go mad...

And that is the reason I go through so many email addresses, I use a different one for each round of trolling.

by Student Guy 2008-06-03 09:02PM | 0 recs
Haha, that actually sounds kinda fun. n/t

by sricki 2008-06-03 09:16PM | 0 recs
Oh concern trolling is very fun

but it gets you banned really fast, my chaos troll id's last maybe an hour, I usually can't stand acting like a Paulxor for more than 2 days at a time, it sure sounds like fun, but try to imagine your self as HillsMyGal, only for a candidate whose positions are the opposite of yours (except on the war).

They always beg for money or for you to sign up in pyramid schemes too.
