As one of the other diarists noted, Bill Clinton was similarly inexperienced with respect to foreign policy, and most people agree he was an effective leader in that regard.
Experience matters, but to quote Obama, "so does judgment." George Bush is the worst president ever, but that's not because of a lack of experience, it's becauase he's an idiot bully. He could have had decades of experience and that wouldn't have affected his ignorant cowboy world view. Nobody was more experienced than Cheney and Rumsfeld and how'd that work out?
If elected, Barack will surround himself with capable advisors, and he's a smart enough guy to listen to them, something Kennedy was known to be good at, but George Bush is not.
I hesitate to say experience is over-rated, it matters, but having the correct worldview, approach and judgment matter just as much or more.
It's getting beyond ludicrous the way that various bloggers and pundits are accusing "Obama Surrogates" of playing the race card basically anytime that anybody anywhere says the word "black." An earlier poster got it right: whenever someone is anti-Clinton they qualify as an Obama surrogate to you people. Despite all of this talk about "the card," we've still seen few, if any, instances of the CANDIDATE himself speaking in terms that are at all racially divisive or attempt to play the victim role. Realistically, the Clinton camp is dying to see Obama play the race card because it's an easy talking point and they realize that the general impression of him as being "beyond race" is one of his stronger points with mainstream voters. I can't believe people buy into this. I'd like to know how many actual Clinton campaign operatives post on this site, because the anti-Obama rants that go on here are ridiculous. The "race card" card is the most absurd red herring going on right now.

When all of the national polls (including some posted on this site) show Obama gaining steadily? "Apples to oranges" is putting it kindly.
