Infamous You Tube video - Bingofrogger solved ?

FINAL UPDATE - I need to write a new diary. I believe I have identified who is behind the original video, posted by BingoFrogger.

OK folks, this is everything there is to know about the now-infamous You Tube videos floating around, that supposedly showed Mickey Kantor slamming folks in Indiana back in 1992.

There are fournow five now six "people" of interest:

1.  BingoFrogger at You Tube, the troll that put this out first.  BingoFrogger signed up at You Tube on May 1st specifically to post the first video.  Ben Smith at Politco was the first person who reported (he shows a link) BingoFrogger's video.

2.  Sorry I had to break the strike, but the next person of interest is Mintosh at Daily Kos, who posted a diary about BingoFrogger's video on May 1st at 8:03 PM (pacific).  I cannot find an earlier link or comment about the video anywhere UPDATE - please see below.

3.  Politikewl - a pro hitman if I ever saw one, who reposted the video around 2 AM on May 2nd.  I've already discussed Politikewl in-depth in my previous diary on this.  Politikewl posts videos attacking Hillary, and also supporting Obama, all over the place.

4.  And finally, meet Stacie - who signed up at MySpace 12 days ago, created a fancy page...and then on May 1st before 10 PM Pacific, proceeded to post (and embed the video) to at least two different MySpace accounts within 5 minutes.  See here and here.

No doubt, Stacie is a fast learner...and she never posted at those MySpace pages before.

So this is how it went down - BingoFrogger created the original You Tube in the evening of May 1st, Slow Poke, then an unknown person, and then Mintosh at Daily Kos spread it by diarying about it, Stacie went around posting it at MySpace accounts later, and then the professional hitman Politikewl reposted the video around 2 AM, and then posted it at many other sites online.  After that, others started making new versions, adding things like the "white ni***r" subtitle at the end.

Now if you guys don't mind, I'm taking the afternoon off!

John

Well so much for taking the afternoon off, but I really am out of here soon to take my mom out to lunch...

There is now a 5th person of interest - but who knows who it is lol - It's tough finding information in a deleted diary, but an Obama supporter at Kos named seanflynn (who looks like an honest guy) posted a comment in a now-deleted diary about BingoFrogger's video, at 7:19 PM Pacific. Since "sean" says this is the second diary on the subject, apparently there was an even earlier, now-deleted, diary at Kos.

I think I'll add a poll

MAJOR UPDATE - wow, this rabbit's hole just keeps going...The very first diary at Daily Kos about this video was posted by "Slow Poke" - his/her first diary. No comments ever! So Slow Poke signed up to Daily Kos specifically to post the first diary about the video.

I've got to go now, sorry.

THIRD UPDATE

OK I'm back, with two new things to report - one popped in my head while I was discussing this event with my mom, and the other was something I noticed right before I logged off earlier.

I believe Slow Poke IS BingoFrogger. Everyone's heard of the game Frogger, where you try to get the frog across the road. He gets killed because he is a _______. If I'm right, Markos has the IP for the person who started this crap.

JedReport posted a diary less than 90 minutes after Slow Poke with an embedded video from The War Room, the very same documentary used by BingoFrogger. I find this coincidence very interesting, when coupled with the connection between Politikewl and JedReport that was previously discovered.

I still believe it was Professor Plumb in the study with the YouTube video.

FTR, dKos believes this vid to be a false flag op.

There is a diary called 'The Video Is Bait' that describes this video as a tactic not unlike the one pulled on Dan Rather over the Bush AWOL scandal.

Is Sluggo Frogger?

Disturbing

and apparently coordinated and trying to time it just right for the NC election.  And posting within minutes or hours.  Interesting.

Thanks for the sleuthing and I hope this is forwarded to the Clinton campaign.  I am hoping this is the overzealous supporters and not an orchestrated attempt by the Obama campaign or his surrogates. We'll just have to see.

I hope so but this is too similiar to

other Obama sorts of dirty tricks.  It is a shame.  These people are not real Democrats.

Thank god Hillary is so strong and couragous that she will win in the end.  President Hillary Clinton!!!!!!!

send this to Kantor

he has a right to investigate to see if there are any ties to the Obama camp and also to bring charges.

Re: send this to Kantor

I've sent it to Susan, she'll take it from there I'm sure.

i may be no fan of civil suits that destroy the lil guy^s but in this case, someone needs to learn a real lesson. civil suit -- bring it on!  and take that PC away from them for starters!!

I really do hope you were joking.

by lizardbox 2008-05-03 12:19PM | 0 recs
Certainly charges should be brought

against the perpetrators of this slanderous video.  These people need to learn not to spread this kind of racially divisiveness.

Re: send this to Kantor

If it didn't come from the Obama camp, what do you have to worry about?

But with the pattern of things that have come from that campaign in the last few months, I don't think it's a bad idea. The Obama campaign will stop at nothing to destroy Hillary.

thank you SluggoJD for working on this.

Thank you, too, for fighting the good fight.  Now you deserve to rest.  ;-)

Great work!!!!!

Shouldn't you be back in Freeperworld or something? Apparently all that "Color arousal" has blinded you from the truth.

These are sock puppets

This looks like great work. It looks like you've got Ground Zero of the ratfucking; mere accounts set up solely for the purpose of propagating the video.

The question is, who's are the real people behind the sock puppets?

We've been looking at JedReport, who looks to be a former Cantwell staffer. He's an Obama supporter, posts a LOT on YouTube, posts a LOT on Kos, and is frequently recommended.

It would also be interesting to find out who recommended the video to the A list -- had to be someone they trusted -- wrongly, as it turns out, since they ran with it with no transcript, and not (I have to believe) knowing the provenance (and then there's the matter of the fact that I imagine it's copyrighted material).

We're talking this over at this link.

Re: Infamous You Tube video ...

This suggests to me that a number of people, who may or may not be associated with the Obama campaign, acting in a coordinated fashion, was involved in an act of race-baiting using a fraudulent and doctored video.

This is a sign of utter panic in the rank, in my opinion.

This has about as much importance as

finger-gate...which is to say none...meh...whatevah, it is gonna be a one off cause frankly, I don't see it getting any traction...boring and interpretive.

Wrong Track

Very nice effort Sluggo, but I'm afraid you're on the wrong track.  The infamous video is the one where they dubbed Kantor calling people in Indiana the n-word. The video your looking through just has a subtitle with Kantor calling Indianians s***.

The infamous video was posted sometime yesterday morning. The problem is that youtube took down the video, so I haven't been able to findout the user yet. The early diaries on KOs about it are gone too, so there's even less info to work with.

In my opinion, the key to finding the trolls is to find out the youtube user who posted the original, and the users who first posted it on KOs and other sites.

Here's a link to the fake video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN_nQOHj_ _s

Re: Wrong Track
this person had the fake video posted yesterday and also posted it at brave new world films under the same user name.

Re: Wrong Track

I'm back.

I disagree Chelsea - all the mutated videos sprang from BingoFrogger's video.  He/she was the first.

I've got two more small updates to post in the diary, and then it's back to work.

Re: Infamous You Tube video - and the trolls behin

As someone who has worked ops research, this has "professional" stamped all over it. I mean, your average, everyday person 1) sought out "The War Room" and 2) knew exactly which segment they needed? Nah.

More likely is that an ops researcher turned up the "Indiana is shit" misquotes from long-ago movie reviews, assumed they were accurate (which is the mark of BAD ops research) uploaded the video after a few "enhancements," and then put the team to work propagating it with the understanding if they get caught, the campaign doesn't know who they are.

Re: Infamous You Tube video

The scumbags also blogged it repeatedly on the Indianapolis Star website and called it in to local radio.  This was too good, too fast, to be anything but a professional job.

It takes a week to get an account at DailyKos

SlowPoke (no recs, no comments, no other posts, just the one) posted the vid on Thu May 01, 2008 at 03:42:43 PM PDT.

Therefore, the ratfucking was planned at least one week before that. (Alternatively, somebody just happened to have an empty Kos account activated, which stinks even worse of an organized plan.)

and the trolls behind it 3X UPDATED

This needs to get over to Ben Smith @ Politico who had the youtube user who posted it and the "editor" talking to him, about why it wasn't a fake.

I would also send it over to Josh Marshall who despite being in the tank for Obama, had a gut feeling about the video and wouldn't post on it.
Your research is invaluable.

"How crashing the gates, became destroying the House."

I can see the downfall now.
