House Dems pass GOP's lobbying bill

Just enough for the bill to squeak through - Kos piece.

Past my bedtime so I won't parse now. But the place to start is in comparing the RCs for the recommit and passage.

Catch and release was clearly at work: which was the balancing number? My guess is: the Dems.

Either way, logs were rolled, the bill went through: the GOP leadership is crying all the way to the bank.

Re: House Dems pass GOP's lobbying bill

The four Dems who voted against the recommit motion were Boucher, Capuano, Murtha, and Sabo. Sabo has already announced his retirement.  Murtha is one of the more conservative Democrats (Progressive Punch score of 66) but an honest and honorable guy.  That leaves Boucher and Capuano.

Re: House Dems pass GOP's lobbying bill

None of the 8 Democrats who voted with the Republicans to pass Dreier's Lobbyist and Corrupt Congressmen Protection Bill should come as a surprise. These are 8 of the dirty dozen Republicans in Democratic clothing. These 8 constantly betray core Democratic values and are just as likely to vote with Republicans on key, substantive issues than with Democrats.
