Democrats pass Pombo's energy bill

The GOP legislative juggernaut is still making progress.
HR 4671, the Deep Ocean Energy Resources Act, passed the House at 7.21 ET this evening.
Any bill reported out by Pombo's House Resources Committee will be suspect. I haven't studied this bill - but the CBO estimate (p56 of the PDF of the House Report) suggests around $1 billion a year as the net cost to the taxpayer.
Which for an energy giveaway is chump change of course. I'm sure the lobbyists tell Pombo that every little helps... And - hell, it won't be their last visit!
I expect there's a load of other bad stuff in the bill - despoiling the environment, that sort of thing - but I leave that to others to rake over.
And the Dems who passed the bill? Surely no shock whatsoever to learn than in a comfortable 232-187, the parties broke R:192-31 and D:40-155.
In other words - and yet again - the bill would not have passed without Dem support.
Such a short time ago, La Pelosi, in reference to herself, was instructing us to Think lioness!
On present performance, that imaginary lioness is still a pretty mangy, toothless old cat...
