NJ-Gov: Forrester Faltering

I apologize if it seems like I'm spending too much time on my state's gubernatorial contest. It's just that rarely have I ever seen a candidate as flat out silly as Doug Forrester.

In only the latest of the many scandals Forrester seems to somehow be connected to -- he's quickly revealing himself as the Zelig of corruption -- it turns out that a subcontractor for Forrester's government services company BeneCard (which made the "Trenton outsider" millions on no-bid government contracts) is being sued for fraud by New York State.

I should point out here that Forrester is not directly involved with this lawsuit. The case, after all, is being made against the subcontractor and not Forrester or his company. However, what does it say of him that he continued to contract with a company that has been accused of bilking $100 million in taxpayer money?

For his part, what does Forrester have to say about the issue?

"I don't think that there was a significant pharmacy benefits claims processor that didn't have some kind of investigation going on by some type of authority," Forrester said.

Oh, you know those silly subcontractors... always getting into some kind of kurfuffle!

It's as if Forrester doesn't quite grasp that he's running for governor. This isn't "some kind of investigation going on by some type of authority." This is a lawsuit being brought by the New York State Attorney General's Office over the virtual theft of 100 million dollars. As governor, it's his job to make sure that he's responsible with state money, especially when dealing with contractors. So for Forrester to just shrug this off is inconceivable.

I used to think
that Forrester's ceiling would be 45% of the vote. Now I'm thinking it's about 40.

It's a great race for us to win
Your take on the Virginia race would also be welcomed.

Well.
I, for one, find Forrester's openly candid style and speech to be refreshing. If everyone were more like him, then we wouldn't think corruption to be that much of a deal.

And what a load off our backs that would be. :)

Zelig! heh heh heh
"Doug Forrester backed over my grandmother's wrist!*  She's elderly, and uses her wrist a lot!"

Seriously, though, isn't Forrester setting up some awkward conversations if he, by some miracle, gets elected and has to sit next to Eliot Spitzer at some Governors' convention?

IS Forrester the Repub?
I think Forrester is the Republican... So his poor performance is a good thing, right?

Re: IS Forrester the Repub?
Yeah, he is. I figured my complete and total disdain for the guy would tip everyone off.

Jersey and Louisiana
Mr.Shields:

Hope you find a new gig soon.  I can see your dilemma.  A dumb Republican like Doug Forrester in one of the two dumbest states in the union (the other is Louisiana)rates moron status.  The
majority party Demos, the most corrupt politicians known to mortal men (except maybe Orleans parish), have hoodwinked businesses along with average citizens as long as I've been alive.   High property taxes, high insurance rates, confiscatory state and local taxes along with out-of-sight crime in Camden, Newark and Trenton.  Maybe the former Soviet Union wouldn't be all that bad for a conservative like me in lieu of Jersey.

I see that you delete all responses with opposing opinions.  That's OK.  It's par for the course when you support a party that has nothing.
