Your link doesn't work when I cut and paste it, but your point is certainly well taken. It's also worth noting that health care employs women in significantly greater proportion than the building of infrastructure. To argue that women's healthcare is somehow not real work is in of itself offensive.
This is great. I've been finding it a bit odd that so many in the blogosphere have separated out the gay marriage issue from Warren's stances on abortion, when it strikes me that the issues are very much related.
What, the charging for rape kits wasn't pernicious enough? Palin becomes a threat, when? I'm not sure how welcome the America-as-she would be on feminist blogs, but if you want to give it a go, be my guest.
I share your cynicism here. Hypocrisy is so deeply ingrained into what it is to be American. It's difficult for me to expect that this stuff will be any different.
Either there's trouble w. the comment-posting feture over there, or I've been banned already. Which is mean!
Seriously, I LOVE the name- one of those names that seems obviously right the minute you hear it; but I'm not a fan of the tiny-teeny font personally.
I think she has to combat that offensively sexist, Lady Macbeth imagery ( that has popped up repeatedly in places like the NYT and Wa Po, never mind less respectable outlets) somehow.
It annoyed me, too; but it was probably smart strategy to prove she could, in effect, be stupid and goofy and still convey an overall aura of authority.
HRC's so brilliantly strategized at every level. Have you noticed that her wardrobe now is ALWAYS a pant suit w. a soft touch somewhere near the top, at photograph level. The men's style oxfords she used to wear are GONE.
So she's always reads visually as just stereotypically feminine enough to be unthreatening, but stereotypically masculine enough to convey toughness?
I can rationally know it's pr stuff, based on awful sterotypes, and still I find it comforting to look at every time I see her in her latest iteration. Just like I was charmed by that stupid Sopranos "viral", against all better judgement.
I've always thought you and Chris made a phenomenal team- you two have stylistic differences that fit together just really nicely.
I wish you best of luck knowing full well that you don't need it!
I have to agree that it's his butchering of the English language that really grates, as if he's not obligated to put forth fully coherent arguments for a non-thinking public.
My family's from the south, and I also get tired of the stereotypes that the south is painted with. But for God's sake, please make your case coherently and thoughtfully- maybe even with supportive evidence!- if you're going to be that inflammatory.

Until this a.m., I missed this piece on Afro-Colombian displacement on behalf of biofuels production, but it's really worthwhile: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7784 117.stm

That's a really misogynistic comment. Nevermind naive.
This is not really the setting for cheap misogyny a la "everyone knows his wife really runs the show." Call it into Rush, if need be.
$4 surprises you? Welcome to New York City. At least you're not paying rent here...

I have no idea WHAT you are describing r.e. the new site- which is probably the highest order of compliment. Best of luck w. the trailblazing.
