Free Advice

Oh no the sky is falling we have want to be pols like Jerome predicting that the sky is falling and the organizing people doesn't work.  Lets go to the way back machine and see what Mr. Armstrong was saying in the past about organizing voters and fighting in red turf:

By Jerome Armstrong
Ten years from now, the Democratic Party will have fully broadened its election strategy beyond the battleground mentality that dominates strategic thinking today. Democrats will be a national party, leaving no uncontested race anywhere in the nation, and will have rebuilt a party infrastructure down to the precinct everywhere in the nation. The Democrats will have regained their majority status as the governing party, and the mapchanger approach to elections will have been the reason.
http://www.thedemocraticstrategist.org/p remiere/armstrong.php

But wait the new Jerome just told me that a whole bunch of states don't matter, what is with the new found conventional wisdom being pushed by Mr. Armstrong.

Jerome Armstrong was a senior staffer at Mark Warner's almost-campaign for president. (And a shout-out to Nancy Scola, Nate Wilcox, and the rest of the group.) Warner was doing interesting things with the Net and was on the verge of possibly taking some strong positions extending broadband and protecting the Net architecture. But, alas, Warner decided not to run.
http://www.hyperorg.com/blogger/mtarchiv e/jerome_armstrong_on_what_works.html

What does this mean, it means that Jerome whats to be big time, he wants to be like Joe Trippi and Warner is his ticket to do so.  The sooner Warner gets a shot (in 2012 if Obama loses) the sooner jerome can become an op.

So my free advice look at all of the data and be an independant thinker.  Don't come to the net with just a snap shot and say everything is over.

Re: Free Advice

Oh noes!

Time to go home then.

Never mind about the election.

The Obama campaign is not listening to any of Jerome's free, and completely unsolicited advice.

Silly Obama people.

I know

I mean Jerome has such an amazing track record about being right with his predictions I don't know why anyone wouldn't listen to him

Re: I know

Will do.

I thought that this was almost becoming pathological behavior...now I realize that it's just naked self-interest.

I wonder if there are any other examples out there of Jerome's self-interest?

Google will inform you about whether or not

There are more examples, just search and find out for yourself.

Damn!  I was hoping to goad you into saying the forbidden word.

Oh, well.  Maybe somebody else will stumble upon it.

That is for the next instance of concern trolling

I may have to bust that out.

Re: Free Advice

Recc'd, despite all the typos.

Armstrong is becoming an embarassment to the progressive blogosphere. When you reach the point where you're consistently contradicting yourself and your past positions, you start sounding a bit like a particular candidate for president.

Re: Free Advice

laugh away, I won't be laughing, I'll be stuck unable to move because of preexisting conditions and the economy will continue to tank and this is no time to fight with each other. It isn't lost yet, but it sure don't look good for the A team, and if some relief pitchers care to chime in, I say welcome all.  Barack is 'bottom up,' remember?

I'm not going to vote for Obama now.

I feel disrespected when you say "You want her vote?  Don't piss her off."  Instead of pissing off people like me, you should be reaching out to me, engaging with me and agreeing that Anna Shane's post is a laughing stock.  Failure to do so will risk the election as I represent a huge block of voters that think Anna Shane's post is hilarious.

Really, this is your last warning.  My vote could be the one that turns the election.  Don't mess with us.

Re: Free Advice

I was sticking up for Barack and making a joke out of it. He'd said he was on the banking committee and turns out he wasn't.  So I joked that he was on the barking committee, and I never called him barky.  If you're not part of the solution, venician, you're part of the problem. but you won't stop me from voting for Barack, even if that's your game plan. I"m voting for him, so there!!!

I don't own anyone an explanation, but that's what it was.  And i've said it before, I'm consistent. this is like from seven months ago, that's all you got?  Hey, get a life.

The sky is falling!  You, and other 'bots, predicted a landslide if Obama was the Dem nominee.  We now know you were wrong!  For me and you, I hope he wins.  But the sky is falling; a Dem under-polling a Repub, in this environment?!

Ratings Abuse

Is silly and wasteful...and ironically, you didn't touch the only one which may have even remotely deserved it (the one saying "anna should just go away"...i haven't seen the barky stuff, but she hasn't seemed that horrible...don't agree with what she's saying, but still)...

by thurst 2008-09-13 11:36AM | 0 recs
Re: Ratings Abuse

That would be me.  Anna has a long history.

Been here long?

Re: Ratings Abuse

Yes, since 2003 actually (and for the record, have been pro-Obama since about a year later)...and honestly I've mostly seen nothing too obnoxious from her (nothing near as obnoxious as jerome), but perhaps I just tune my ears out sometimes when the flaming starts (and left for awhile when it became hillarycentral).

Also, for the record, I've seen you quite frequently and find you one of the more insightful, reasonable sorts here...why I uprated you upthread.

Re: Ratings Abuse

Thanks.  I'm sorry if I came off as smarmy.

I'm tired of the deadenders.  I'm tired of what this once-great site has become.

I'm tired of getting banned for calling Jerome out.

I'm pretty fucked up, to still be here, honestly.

Cheers!

Re: Ratings Abuse

Ha, I don't know if I agree with you on the site, but it is really sad to see what Jerome has devolved into.  If he were offering advice on how to fix it, that would be one thing, but this is just getting pathetic.  In defense of the site, it is a sign of balance that this made the rec'd diary (hopefully he retains some integrity and doesn't go after the diarist) as it makes a fair point, even if it does skirt the rules.  It sort of reminds me of a Nas line about Jay-Z and Eminem.

Anyway, may you keep speaking your mind.

Ok

I stand corrected, but stand by the idea that the "I wish she would leave" was the only thing REMOTELY rateworthy...didn't say it was :)...just thought it funny that CTD was going up and pooping on completely innocuous comments.

Re: Free Advice

And one should really look at the polls more closely. The McSame bump is coming from the South, Christian Conservative country.

by venician 2008-09-13 11:28AM | 0 recs
Re: Free Advice

Ahh.  You mean the domographics that put Bush II in office?  Let's talk about that and what that means.

by ChitownDenny 2008-09-13 11:35AM | 0 recs
Actually...

If you want to talk about what that means...it's quite simple: his point is it's coming from states that were already in the McCain column, or would have been frosting on the cake.  I'm sad to lose Montana and North Dakota and hope once the superficial gleam of Palin wears off, they tilt back towards our side.  However, if you've watched the polls recently, other than one worrysome poll of New Mexico, we haven't lost an Obama state (i'm including NM, CO, IA here) yet, nor have Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Nevada, or even Missouri, bounced out of reach.

The South by itself was not the demographic which put Bush in office...and, unless there really has been a swell in Republicans lately, which would really be depressing (the dem congress had a chance to overcome the bush veto, how exactly?), the demographics have changed to favor us...

by thurst 2008-09-13 11:41AM | 0 recs
Iowa may be out of reach for

McCain from the anaylsis conducted by one of the three best bloggers here, desmoinesdem.

I'm here in the Pacific Northwest and there is some "chatter" about McCain becoming more competitive up here given the last two polls in Washington state.  The conventional wisdom is that if he's that close in Washington state, he's close in Oregon as well.  That could very well be true but that hasn't held true throughout the summer with Wisconsin and Minnesota.

I'm not worried about the Pac NW.  I would love it for McCain to overextend himself; so he'll lose Washington and Oregon by three-five points rather than six-eight points, it'll count the same as a big zero next to the number of electoral college votes he'll receive from this area.  I'm more worried about the Palin impact in the senate race and the governor race hre in Washington.  Rossi has found a resurgence in female support.

by Blazers Edge 2008-09-13 11:45AM | 0 recs
I agree

That's why I said we're not losing Iowa...I should have clarified Kerry states + IA, CO, NM...and despite the close polls, I think just as with Iowa, Colorado got a good dose of Obama and realized they like him...if they were going to win the state, they would be ahead thanks to the Colorado Springs contingent...that 3 polls have Obama up now makes me think that Colorado is now roughly D+6 or 7

There was also a poll of Oregon that has Obama up +7...I'm guessing the Washington poll is kinda like the New Jersey polls that came out in 2000 & 2004 (and are rearing their ugly heads now)...a bit of a flirtation that won't last anywhere near election day...I say that as a denizen of NJ who never bought it...

But good to hear from someone in the ground in the PacWest that it's not as bad as they're making it anyway...with family in Seattle, it's a matter of pride that Wash stay in the blue column...

Obama's not even trying to reach out

to the millions and millions of Hillary-supporting southern pro-lifer homo-hatin' gun-totin' snake-handlin' white women.  He should have chosen Bay Buchanan or Ann Coulter as his running-mate.
