Face it, our journalists are a bunch of snobs who can't stand it when people from uncool places like Arkansas or Alaska outshine them.
Hillary is from Arkansas? Funny, I always thought she was raised in an affluent suburb just outside of Chicago, after which she attended Wellesley then Yale. But you're absolutely right. Elitist snobs detest people from affluent metropolitan areas who attend Yale Law School.
Please explain your Alaska reference, because you couldn't possibly be implying that the media was unfair to Sarah Palin. I refuse to believe anyone's head could be that tightly embedded in his or her own ass as to infer such a thing.
This site has become a big disappointment. Maybe after this election is over and all the hype and excitement and the trolls have died down, then it can go back to being a forum for interesting and informative discussion.
I think it would be more telling if Obama were responding in kind. Has he been? Otherwise Bayh is just another party sycophant posturing for the veep slot - not that there's anything wrong with that. It just really is embarrassing to watch sometimes.
In law, philosophy, debate, academia, and every other field or institution that places a premium on honest intellectual discourse, there are certain common conventions pertaining to extraordinary claims and/or accusations.
Specifically, if you are going to make an accusation such as this, you really need to support it with some evidence. Otherwise, you have reduced yourself to speculation that appears to be based on nothing but your own preformed judgments.
Granted, you are just as entitled to make groundless accusations as the next person. But if you do, please understand that you have left the realm of honest discussion and are teetering on the edge of polemics.
It's not like she used the term "those people." "Them" is a perfectly good neutral pronoun. It would have been stylistically awkward to repeat "African Americans." Using "them" to refer to a group previously mentioned is simply good form. The grammar police approve.
I will say that I thought sharing one's sexual history was a bit odd. But it didn't detract from the main point of the diary for me. It's just not something I would have done.
Is this a response to my diary, or to a comment in the diary? I honestly don't know, because it doesn't appear to refer to anything that has been said here. I didn't attempt to define anything, and I certainly am not trying to keep fighting the primary.
But hey, I like your name. "Anna Shane" has a nice ring to it.
