• I would write back and say to my friend:

    Isn't "partnering" a euphemism for union-busting?

So the yellow scab of a union buster drinks the wingnut kool-aid and doesn't like Obama? I think I'll file that one away under "grass is green, sky blue."

  • her "personal choices" have involved making rape victims pay for their own rape kits, because rape kits contain the morning after pill, which is, in her twisted world, "taxpayer funded abortion."

Her personal choices also included firing a public safety commissioner as part of  a family feud, a man who was actively working on trying to reduce Alaska's abysmal record of violence against women and children.

This a woman who belongs nowhere near the levers of power.

  • The woman made rape victims pay for their own rape kits. This is your feminist martyr?

She is nasty, nasty piece of work.

  • says Warren gets caught in his own gay sex scandal sometime between the next year and a half to two years.

Pride always goeth before a fall.

  • we have learned from the Democratic Congress under Bush, it is exactly how useful all that "dry powder" really is. I mean Nancy Pelosi has gobs and gobs of it, just laying around the house.

Maybe we can go borrow some from them when we need it?

  • why fight back?

Absolutely. Bust them up and sell their assets.

So maybe an act of Congress is the answer this time.

I think marriage is the crux because it goes right to the heart of where the bigots think their superiority lies. They think heterosexual relationships are always more valuable, more real and more worthy of support than homosexual ones. So long as the government backs them up in this idea, I don't see how they will get over it on their own.

Great Diary, psychodrew. It reminds me of something I learned once from a rabbi. He was a man who had lost much of his family in the Holocaust, and went on to make Palestinian rights his life's work.

He said, "I love my people, but they are capable of terrible things. Sometimes I have to fight them."

As a Southerner, I completely understood.

Warren does not know the Bible, beyond a few passages he picked out long ago to support his pre-existing prejudices.

    Plus he's a liar.

The right to marry will force the bigots to see you as equals in a way nothing else ever will. This is equivalent to racial integration of the public schools, because after that, everything changes.

But if gay people deserve the same rights, then why don't they deserve the word "marriage?"

  • I think you have confused the real world with an episode of  "Spongebob Squarepants." Again.

You have more rights and privileges than any gay couple that has been together that long, through no virtue of your own, simply because you are hetero. Congratulations.

would the government take that away? And why?
