Hillary, McCain Hit Obama on Voting for Corrupt Energy Bill

Although hardly a front-burner issue in the Democratic race, Clinton has routinely criticized Obama's vote for the 2005 energy bill. Here is Clinton at a debate earlier this year: "I think it's well accepted that the 2005 energy bill was the Dick Cheney lobbyist energy bill. It was written by lobbyists... It had enormous giveaways to the oil and gas industries." Clinton voted against the measure.

And here's a recent radio ad the Clinton campaign is running in Pennsylvania: "Obama ... doesn't mention that he voted for the Bush Cheney energy bill," the narrator says. "It was called a piñata of perks and the best energy bill corporations could buy. Hillary Clinton voted against that bill."

McCain -- who, like Clinton, voted against the legislation -- also now is hitting Obama on this issue, which suggests the 2005 energy bill could come up in an Obama-McCain general election. Obama "voted for an energy bill that was laden with sweetheart deals and tax breaks for the major special interests," McCain told FOX's Carl Cameron earlier in the week. "I voted against it."

And they would both be li.... in error where the truth is concerned. While the bill did contain tax breaks it also contained tax increases such that oil/energy companies paid slightly more in taxes then before the bill which also contained many many incentives on alternative energy which I thought was, you know, important.

One has to wonder about Obama's

corporate connections. It seems as if wherever money is involved, his vote is wrong. Iraq seems to be his only 'positive' thing and he won't be convinced to acknowledge that he could have done more, much, much more.

The healthcare issue scares me. Please read my diaries on the subject.

Well, we all have to admit, he certainly IS a POLITICIAN

Re: One has to wonder about Obama's

I have. You're wrong. I've told you so. You don't like him, you attribute false and baseless attacks on his character in defense of your "points". He has a different idea of how to achieve the goal we all want. He's allowed in this country to have a different opinion, that doesn't put him in bed with monied interests.

Not the first time they've been on the same side of the fence.

And it surely won't be the last.

Team Hillary and McCain

What you fail to mention is the bill also funds the largest incentives for green energy, ever. And now that you mention bills the candidates have supported, why don't you explain Hillary's support of the bankruptcy bill, whick was a huge give away to the credit card industry?? Wonder what the Penn state voters would think when they know Hillary is preventing them from solving their financial problems in a dignified manner?

The healthcare issue is going to make a huge

difference to thousands of Americans. People think he's going to help them, and instead, there is no beef, he's going to be more of the same.

:o

Lots of people are just hanging on. Obama's giving them 'hope'

You can't describe how terribly this is going to hurt people's faith in America.

"there is no beef,"

Do you really want to invoke Mondale's slogan against Hart from 1984 -- you know, the year super delegates overturned the popular vote and Mondale went on to lose almost every state?
