DCCC Has $44 Million COH

I don't think money will be a problem in our House races this year. According to Roll Call (subscriber only), the DCCC is sitting on a nice pile of cash.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Monday that it raised $20 million during the first three months of 2008 and finished March with $44.3 million on hand.

The committee, which has lapped the National Republican Congressional Committee in available cash all cycle, also reported paying off its last debts from the 2006 cycle in the first quarter of the year. It has raised $87.9 million so far this election cycle.

What's more important, is that they are not doing it with the fat cats.

The DCCC reported that it had the highest grass-roots fundraising quarter of the 2008 cycle, tripling its low-dollar fundraising from the same time last year. The DCCC said it now has more than 2 million donors this cycle.

So if big donors want to blackmail Nancy Pelosi, they are going to have to find another way. The era of the oversized checkbook is over and, in this case, size no longer matters.

NRCC numbers?  Are they even in the positives yet?  Did they ever figure out how much their Swiftie treasurer stole?

Overall: woo!  I hope the DCCC pours it on in MS-01, LA-01, and LA-06.  Force the NRCC to go on defense with money they don't have.  If we even take one of those, its a major win that will further inspire us and demoralize them.

Sweet Zombie Jesus

That's great news!  I was concerned about the down-ticket races, but it looks like we'll be able to fund a good number of them.

We REALLY need to get Michelle Bachmann out of MN 6th District.  And unseating Norm Coleman would definitely be a feat.  Support Elwyn Tinklenberg & Al Franken!

Wow good news about democrats!

And the chorus here on MYDD is silent.

I honestly think this board suffers from the Carville syndrome.

Remember when we won the house and senate in 2006 and Carville came out attacking Howard Dean.
I honestly don't beleive the people want Democrats to win at all costs.  I think they just care about Hillary.

Well

There are always people in the party who want to see us lose to prove a point. In last year's VA state senate races, someone triumphantly predicted that we will not pick up seats because Reid and Pelosi were not aggressive enough on Iraq. But we won the senate anyway. I am sure there are some Hillary supporters who will want us to fails in order to show that only she could save the party.
