Since you are not paying attention to your geographical demographics, I will mention what I forgot to add -- He won in states less populated than those he lost. He can have them.
As of 04/23: Obama has won the white non college voting bloc (e.g., white blue collar voters) in Wisconsin -- 52% -- and lost them everywhere else, even in Illinois, where they narrowly preferred Clinton (50% to 46%) . . . In Ohio, he won only 27% of non college white voters; in PA, as of this morning, the number was just 30%.
It does not include IN. That is my prediction based on the OH and IL (and MO) numbers.
There is a big difference between the simple and gracious act of allowing fellow Democrats signs in your office window and expecting another campaigns supporters to divert resources to you.
When you live in So. IL & you have Chicago Democrats controling the politics, I do not think so. They allow one of the worst Republicans to remain in office so they can remain in power.
According to last the numbers from last week, Obama bombs receiving majority support from the white non-college bloc in every state but WI. He has no chance of winning IN also.
Does this mean that the Chicago Machine is the lesser of 2 evils? Believe me. You really do not want Chicago taking over the country. It is bad enough to have it in control of the 6th largest state in the country.
Don't get me started on how bad your proposed IL-11 looks. Keeping the CDs so large & long is part of the problem. It'll stay Rep. even if Weller finally ends up in federal prison where he belongs.
I'll continue to disagree with you. Considering Phelps reduces your credibility. He's too much of a DINO like Costello. We need a woman in the seat. Sheila Simon's not interested, but there are others who would be just as good.
Also, IL-19 needs to include ALL of Madison Co. not just part of it.
It really doesn't matter who voted for Kerry when. It's the precinct data that needs analysis, not county. I'd put IL-11 Weller as completely vulnerable with a dictator for a father-in-law. Talk about a wasted opportunity!
What matters is the number of disenfranchised Dems in Central & So. IL. They vote for Johnson in IL-15 & Congressman Zero (aka Shimkus) in IL-19 because the Dem Party gives them no reason not to.
What a concept!!! Someone in the Dem Party actually considering Central & Southern IL important (& don't get me started on how much Madigan & Daley work against us)! The state south of I-80 is continually ignored & mislabeled Rep disenfranchising too many Dems. Consequently, they vote Rep. Johnson has no business being in Congress.
Another wasted opportunity is targeting Zero. After the Page Board debacle, I can only conclude that the Dem Party WANTS him in office. The Party's attitude is so lame. Zero's only in office for 2 reasons: he won in 1996 by .5% & gerrymandering wrongly keeps him in DC (& he doesn't want to be there in the first place!).
Right now the CD is larger than some states. Here's a novel idea for redistricting: get Sangamon, Shelby, Christian, Montgomery, Jersey, & Greene out of IL-19. That's too far north. Let the CD extend to the IN border. Add the rest of Madison, Saline, & Gallatin. IL-12 can extend to KY from MO to IN.
Also, retiring Costello & backing a REAL Dem instead of continually reelecting a DINO (& jailbird shouldabeen) would give the IL-12 Dems the encouragement that they desperately need to keep voting Dem.
Also, I wouldn't worry about LaHood. He wants to be the next Rep gov. At least the open seat scenario would give a Dem a fighting chance.
Ditto. No one really pays any attention to IL-19 (or IL-15) because the Chicago Dems & the GOP have gerrymandered the state so bad. They have everyone convinced that Dems on exist north of I-80. Gerrymandering's the only way Shimkus could remain in office after winning by .5% in 1996.
I disagree with Hoffman. Too many people have issues with him as an alcoholic PI atty. He's a Lakin/Simmons crony. Too many MadCo Dems will stay home if he wins the Primary.
IL-19 needs someone else -- someone NOT hand-picked by the PI atty boys club. My suggestion is a local woman with a completely different professional background.
She's already sucked the life out of many campaigns through the country. The only way she wins is with the Chicago votes. She's too hated in DuPage so she has no chance of carrying it.
It'll be slim & may need a recount, but the seat's Roskam's. Shades of the 5th Appellate in 2004.

A quote is always added value. It proves the picture.

You try living with that.
Not exactly true. Old news.

Same thing. Who do you think taught him fundraising, how the game is played? How do you think he got so far in the first place?

Edwards is only the best candidate the Dems have for the Oval Office. Richardson's the 2nd best & would make a wonderful VP.
Obama & Clinton aren't even in the running. They need to stay on The Hill -- permanently.
