Well, at least it gives the TSA employees opportunities to supplement their incomes. After all, the value of information that lies on company executives laptops can sometimes be extremely high to their competitors -- and a halfway competant and enterprising TSA employee could easily follow instructions on what to look for, for a fee of course.
guys apart from the bad, then you've got no hope of getting their cooperation.
If 5% of our forces there knew how to talk the language, then we have a shot at turning things around. My understanding is that we're at more like 0.05%..
Now we just have be really careful that the bad guys don't just join up with the Dems and destroy it from within.
If you can't beat em, join em, right?
If it becomes really obvious that they are not electorally viable, that will mean the flood of corporate contributions will be directed more exclusively to Democrats to buy them off. That will make it a lot harder to keep Dem electeds voting like Democrats should.
AIPAC and its fervent supporters represent the interests of war-mongering Likudniks, not Israelis at large. We've had it beat into our heads by these people for many years that they speak for the interests of Israel, but they don't. Aside from that nitpick, I like the post.
Harman IS a heavy hitter with lots of backers in DC, and this isn't causing a big hit with them. I just read Steve Clemons at the Washington Note, for example, who's still a big backer.
The unfortunate thing about this story is that other important things are getting buried:
The fact that she contacted the NYT on Michael Hayden's behalf (or so she claimed) to try to get them to spike the story on warrantless wiretapping in "October or November 2004". I think the NYT doesn't want to come out and admit this was pre-election and make Harman look particularly bad, but I highly suspect that's the case. That would mean she helped Bush win the election in a possibly very significant way.
Also, the focus on the crime takes away from the fact that she was the biggest supporter of 4th Amendment violations by our government, and was most instrumental in legalizing those crimes.
I'm fine with Arnold getting a job in the administration where he has control over nothing of consequence. How about Barack appoints him now so we can get a special election for Governor!
That guy just plays the moderate as he facilitates the Republican destruction of California. He's thoroughly screwed California (and is angling to make it much worse with the spending cap (Prop 1A) he wants to put in place), so I'd love to see him go and be replaced by a Democrat.
If California keeps getting bluer as it has particularly over the last two years, I don't think Feinstein has to worry about Arnold or any other Republican. Her conservative ways will be out of step with California (see her backing away from the Employee Free Choice Act, for example), and she'll need to worry about being taken on by a more reliable Democrat.
I'm happy to hear about that. Just a heads up to those who support Tom's campaign, I have set up an ActBlue page to match people's donations to his campaign through tomorrow (Thursday) midnight (http://www.actblue.com/page/tommatch), so people can make more out of their contribution. Please donate a bit (or a bit more) to help Tom.
If the caller notifies me that the "call will be recorded for quality control purposes", then I know that they are from a separate company employed to raise money for the organization and have no qualms being curt with them and hanging up in less than 3 seconds.
Usually I hang on long enough to determine whether it's a volunteer - they don't deserve rough treatment.
It was a good thing they did this. I got an email and linked to the video earlier tonight, and I appreciated it. If he was reading off a teleprompter, he fooled me. The focus was a reminder we all have to get involved in addition to introducing himself, and I imagine it will have pretty positive impact.
Please make one! Might as well make it audio/visual. I'll incorporate it into the speech. Er, I mean, I'll ask the mystery speaker to add it to his/her speech.
As he steered his Straight Talk Express across the United States in recent weeks, Republican Sen. John McCain has tried to stay a-head of the immigration issue. But Friday the immigration issue delivered 36 or so heads to his Phoenix office -- heads of lettuce, that is.
McCain has been getting skewered in the media for comments earlier this month to a union group in Washington, D.C., that immigrants are taking jobs no one else wants, and offered them $50 an hour to pick lettuce in the Arizona sun for a summer, suggesting they couldn't do it.
The senator didn't stick around long enough to process any applications, despite several offers to take him up on his offer from the audience.
So Friday more than three dozen demonstrators showed up at his office, many carrying lettuce picker applications in one hand, and a head of lettuce in the other to show they could do the job.
There are jobs Americans won't do.
Objections from crowd: not if you pay them the right wage.
My friends, I'll offer anybody here $50 an hour if you'll go pick lettuce in Yuma this season, and pick for the whole season. OK? Sign up. OK? You sign up and you'll be there for the whole season - the whole season - not for just one day, OK? Because you can't do it, my friend.

What a great service to do these interviews. Thanks!

I hope there's no backing off. His given the finger to the non-rich for so damn long by endorsing Bushonomics, it's clear he deserves rough treatment.
