Texas Gubernatorial poll

With Bob Gammage's announcement that he will enter the race for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Texas, it's time to see where Texans (OK, all y'all) stand.

Here are the websites of the three announced candidates:

Felix Alvarado

Chris Bell

Bob Gammage

Who do you like?

It would also be interesting to know if any are planning on holding out for Kinky Friedman.

There's a similar poll at my Kos diary.

Re: The Dems need to get out
No, we don't!

I have no use for a jackass who supports public school prayer and a wall on the border.

Apparently, some "progressives" do.

Re: The Dems need to get out
Actually, I think Kinky's plan for a moment of silent prayer in schools is an acceptable compromise, that would harm nobody.

I also think that a wall on the border would be aesthetically unpleasing, on a number of different levels--but STRICT enforcement of existing immigration laws would be beneficial to working class Americans (to the detriment of corporations that want a supply of cheap/slave labor), and it would be very good politically for Democrats to embrace.  I have no real problem with Kinky on this.

I think that both of these stances might put an end to longstanding political stalemates that give me a headache just thinking about them.  Last I heard the term "progressive" meant being in favor of some sort of PROGRESS.

Flame away if you like.

Re: The Dems need to get out
No flaming from me.

A silent prayer is still unconstitutional.
And public institutions have no right to force it.  I am a Hindu, and don't believe that public schools have any right to dictate religion to my kids.  I live in Texas, and know the motives of some around here.

As for enforcement of immigration laws, I'm all for it.  But a wall doesn't address that.  It just promotes isolationism.  People will cross over as long as there are jobs and a better life.

Is there any Rule on Three way races
If nobody gets over 50% they do a runoff that kind of thing?

Re: Is there any Rule on Three way races
Yes, in Texas a runoff election is held 30 days after the primary if no candidate gets 50% of the vote.

And even more important, this shortens the period of time that Kinky has to acquire signatures (of registered voters, but who CAN'T have voted in EITHER primary) from 60 days to 30.
