Since no one seems to have a clue, I'm just gonna throw a name out there with a little circumstantial evidence: Ashton Kutcher. He's from Cedar Rapids and did all right as a panelist on Bill Maher a few weeks ago. Wasn't a bombthrower either and was very careful how he articulated his political persuasion as a social liberal and a fiscal (I can't remember whether he said moderate or conservative). Although he referred to John Boehner as Senator Boehner multiple times before he was corrected.
It has to be someone with lots of money, name recognition, or both if they're waiting for Branstad to announce. That could be anytime. And btw, Kutcher is just over the age barrier to be a Senator. He's 31.
As for the merits of the ranking system, I wholeheartedly agree. I think Dreyfoos would score similarly on the list even if more criteria were included, but a ranking system based solely on AP classes is severely flawed.
I am a recent graduate of Dreyfoos School of the Arts, #50 on the Newsweek list. Any kid with half a brain is funneled into as many AP classes as possible due to the rewards that the Florida Legislature gives to public schools for passing grades. A few years ago, it was $900 dollars to the school for each passing grade, i.e of 10 students enrolled in an AP class, only 1 had to pass for the school to make a profit. That reward has been cut nearly in half now due to budget cuts and at my school that AP money went to subsidize cuts in arts funding. We nearly had to lay off half our arts faculty this year but from what I hear we found some generous donors.
However, I am glad that I have taken so many AP classes. I have an entire year's worth of credits done, giving me the opportunity to more easily pursue a double major.
criticized the "decorum" of the Democratic debate and questioned the "seriousness" of the questions. Clearly, the man is not fond of creativity so how can he be President?
The only one not being serious about the issues is him.
It's time for him to start heading back to the mansion and while he's on the road, if he wants to double Guantanamo so bad, he can do it himself, and maybe he'll remember to let the dog out to piss this time.
We need Broun to flop in Wilkes and Habersham County. Marlow will probably do well in Wilkes, maybe even carry it and I think Bill Greene will get some votes in Habersham as opposed to Broun. It's a longshot but it's not completely hopeless.
I thinks it's safe to say that there will be a run-off just by a hair. It's between Broun and Marlow for the second spot. I'm hoping Whitehead's strength in Columbia will lower Broun's take and Habersham County which is yet to report is supposedly good territory for Bill Greene. If the stars align right, we can make this. We'll know soon.
I agree about Stumbo. He's a non-starter for me. I hope Treasurer Jonathan Miller gets in but Bashear gave him the party chairmanship so that's unlikely. Even though Owen sounds great, his age is an issue. I'm really rooting for Andrew Horne to get in.
This guy's the real thing. To say this guy is head and shoulders above Cardwell and Jones would be a gross understatement. The netroots should get behind him. BIG TIME!! I see the progressive south rising again in 2008 through a Senate triumverate.

Does anyone know anything about Mark Begich's stance on the issues?

Freeman almost tied with Marlow in Wilkes. He's still in second though. (crosses fingers)

I like Jari Askins. She seems like a good progressive in my book. Maybe that woman who lost to Boren in the 2004 congressional primary, Kalyn Free.
Great. Now let's see an ad with Wilder.
