These 54 seconds will win the election for us (spread to EVERYONE you know!)

At their core, elections are very simple. You develop an argument for your candidacy and against that of your opponent's. You then spend your campaign pounding away at that argument.

Barack Obama's central argument is that this moment in our history requires fundamental change, and that John McCain's policies represent an extension of George Bush's. There are all sorts of ancillary debates, but this is the central argument of his general election candidacy.

Here, my friends, is the 54-second clip that reinforces his argument more than $150,000,000 in advertising dollars could possibly do.

I don't have a Kos account, but I'd love anyone to post it. To clarify, I didn't make this clip - a friend sent it over to me. I don't know where he got it, but the fact is that this could win the election for us. It sounds like an exaggeration, but it ties McCain to Bush in such a way that is totally irrefutable.

How did we have elections prior to the YouTube era? (err...2006).

This is the stuff from which landslides are made.

As far as I'm concerned, the #1 reason to support Obama is that if he DOES get a "mandate", he'll have the organizational foresight and genius not to squander it. A lot will have to go right, and a lot will have to not go wrong, but if the perfect storm comes together the next 4 years could be really exciting.

Jesus people, stop it! Do not relax! We can't afford to talk landslide, hell, we can't even afford to talk about winning. We are trying to elect a black man president with a divided party. We can't afford to get comfortable.

We are Obama supporters. We campaign like we are 10 points down. Don't give yourself the luxury of believing this will be easy. If you do, we lose.

We cannot expect people like Rush to keep that self-imposed muzzle on forever.
Hillary is on-board. SO WHAT?
Obama is beating McCain nationally. SO WHAT?
We have a clip of him signing off on Bush's policies.SO WHAT?
COnservatives SAY they will stay home in November. SO WHAT?

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE DESIRE OF CONSERVATIVES TO KEEP THE STATUS QUO. WE ARE STILL TRYING TO GET A BLACK MAN ELECTED. THAT WILL NOT BE EASY.
And for my Hillary supporters out there, I would be equally vehement as well if she was my nominee.

John McCain is Bob Dole reincarnated. We have a candidate that is not prone to gaffes and doesn't make many mistakes. SO WHAT? It 2000 showed us anything, it showed us that they will do anything to keep our candidate out of the WHite House.

It doesn't even need to be edited. Just buy a minute of air time, show all 54 seconds.

Maybe a little frame at the beginning that says "John McCain: another four years of George W. Bush" and then play the clip. It's a gift.

What is John McCain thinking?

The only way he can possibly win this election is to distance himself from the President as much as he possibly can, while hoping that the hardcore conservative base will be impassioned to turn out against Obama rather than for himself.

Appealing to your base while alienating everyone else is a losing strategy when your base makes up only a quarter of the population and the other side is way more passionate...

The fact that McCain is like Bush is important...

but what is most important is that McCain's administration will have the same incompetents that have been DESTROYING our government for the past seven years. His policy agreements with Bush will hurt, but it's the R next to his name that will kill him.
