definitely won't help Martin, that's for sure. Without Obama coattails I can't say I'm feeling good about his chances. The hard core voters will skew older, richer, and white.
For practical purposes, with 58 or 59 the Dems could bust most filibuster attempts (ol' Snarlin' Arlen won't be running again, doesn't have to worry about another primary). It doesn't all hinge on the Peach State, luckily.
Leaping jobs so quickly is just slimy, IMO. You run for a position, promising the voters you'll perform certain duties, gaining their trust. Now it's time to follow through. A lame duck governor half way through the last term is a different story. I doubt Strickland would accept such an offer anyway.
If everybody who commented in and recced those threads voted 10 times apiece it would be <1% of a daily TRL vote tally. At least you are not lacking in self image, and for that, good on ya.
Eminem happens to be one of the biggest music stars in the world and really never needed any help catapulting his new work to #1 during those peak years.
Very interesting diary. This should be on the Rec list, but as usual we have to be force-fed what Obama and Edwards ate for breakfast and wore to the supermarket.
I don't quite understand what JetBlue was going to do before that they will not do now. Everybody realizes that JetBlue was NOT endorsing the politics of YearlyKos, right? They donated 10 free tickets. That's all they ever planned to do.
Only the private ones in wealthy areas. The busiest hospitals are the public ones, which are generally fully or partially subsidized by their localities.
I've heard they call it the "Emergency Room" because it is for emergency situations. That may be wild-eyed speculation however, I'm not sure.
Sending patients with an ear ache or a mild fever to a clinic is the smart thing to do. It is not denying care. It relaxes the intense crunch on emergency services. Hospitals are overburdened and underfunded as it is. People die because of it, and it's not the kid with the upset tummy.
Actually Ford received near Presidential-level turnout and vote margins in Memphis. The "lack of support from Democrats" myth that circulates around here is not supported by any facts.
Exactly, that is what I was trying to say. The netroots have been reflexively blaming Ford's ideology for the loss, but he was completely mainstream for Tennessee. He only lost because he was black. Those portraying him as politically irrelevant because he lost (in the toughest competitive Senate race in the country) are just being delusional.

The millions of kids watching TRL pushed it to the top, but fashioning oneself a pop culture Kingmaker can be fun, so knock yourself out.
Are you sure they weren't confusing Grover Norquist for Gore in that interview? Good grief. What the hell happened to the "lock box".

Obama hasn't even commented on my neighbor's "W" sticker. These guys need to get with the program.

Ugh. The Journal is going to read like the NY Post now. "Poll: Nerdy, pasty libs hate our President!"

Good point. New Mexico should go back to the poverty-stricken laughing stock it was 10 years ago.
