I wouldn't go as far as saying they're both extremely popular, especially after the last few weeks.
The only way I see Gore jumping in is if Obama and Hillary continue to hammer each other to the point where they are seen as virtually unelectable against McCain. Right now, they're both 5-8 points behind McCain...if that trend continues, I expect Gore's name to surface more and more.
And let's not talk about what's "fair" in politics. For one, politics isn't about being fair, it's about winning, and that's the Democrats' number one priority. Second, nothing is fair about the fact that Gore should've been President the past seven years.
A 'hit diary,' in my opinion, is one that is completely one-sided and intentionally ignores facts with the intention of bringing down one candidate or his/her supporters.
Actually, if you took the time to actually listen to the audio, he says that the convention will either yield Obama as the nominee OR someone other than Obama or Clinton.
The diarist is also at fault here and should correct the title.
Without stooping to the level you have in insulting me, I'll just say this. It was asked on what occasions Hillary has sold out the progressive wing of the party. The above issues are instances where she voted in different ways than those in the Progressive Caucus. Period.
So please, almighty thoughtful Hillary supporters, take my comments as they are.
To name a few things that most progressives have disagreed with Clinton on: 2002 Iraq War resolution, Kyl-Lieberman Amendment, not voting on the bankruptcy bill, flag burning, death penalty, voting yes on a number of free trade agreements like Chile, taking money from PACs.
If I weren't very busy right now, I'd look up a few more --- these are just the ones off the top of my head. Enjoy.
Take a chill pill --- it was likely nothing more than an oversight, which is completely understandable given the fact that a) Obama was the first to send out an email b) is the only one that has set up a virtual phone bank on his website and c) got a substantial amount of Netroots buzz because of a & b.
Kudos to Obama, Edwards, Dodd, Himes, and anyone else sending help their way.
This is old news, not breaking news - I remember RFK Jr. saying he planned to support Hillary months ago during a Today Show interview.
Also, RFK Jr. lives in NY, which could very well have to do with the support (recall that all congressmen and political bigwigs from a candidate's state lines up behind them).
I unfortunately completely agree and that's why I ended my involvement with the draft movement on November 2nd, the NH filing deadline.
It's a sad realization after spending so many months trying to get him to run, but many lessons can be learned from the Draft Gore folk. Likewise, as someone else noted, if by chance the Democratic nominee loses (something that I think is VERY unlikely to happen), Gore WILL be looked upon to save the party from implosion.
I certainly agree with you that this is not breaking news and what he said he's been saying for a very long time not.
But to jump and say that this is a "definitive decision" by Gore not to run --- I don't quite understand where you're coming from. By that logic, he issued the "definitive decision" to not run over a year ago, and both you and I know that's not true.
The fact remains that Gore has not "ruled out" a run like some of the outlets are reporting.

I don't know where you're getting the idea that this is an anti-Hillary diary. It isn't in the least bit.
A 'hit diary,' in my opinion, is one that is completely one-sided and intentionally ignores facts with the intention of bringing down one candidate or his/her supporters.
I will continually update the diary to reflect the names of all users who join the boycott, so comment below if you want in.

I'll say what I said in my other diary: if George Bush can win reelection, Al Gore can win while supporting gay marriage.
And he's not as young as you may think - he'd almost be 70 years old should he take office in January 2017.

How much money does Kennedy have in the bank?

the same thing he said in December of 2002: "I will not be a candidate for president in 2008"
He knows exactly how to end the speculation.
