Recently, Chris Bowers posted a story on new Democratic Party slogans
here.
Apparently, two or three slogans are being considered in the party leadership circles:
House Democratic leaders are holding a closed-door meeting with members of their caucus this afternoon to discuss a new slogan for the 2006 midterm elections: "
Together, We Can Do Better" or "Together, America Can Do Better," according to Democratic sources.
Although aides say the slogan has yet to be finalized and is still up for debate, it has already been in frequent use by Democratic leaders on both sides of the Capitol for several weeks.(...)
The catchphrase is not new to political observers, who will remember that an earlier reincarnation, "America Can Do Better," was a slogan in the campaign of presidential aspirant Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), although his main theme was "A Stronger America."(...)
Academic George Lakoff, marketing expert Jack Trout and software entrepreneur John Cullinane have periodically weighed in on the project.
There is a FP poll on two of these slogans.
Although I don't mind these slogans, I don't find any of them assertive or compelling enough. So, I compiled a list, and a selection of them are included in the poll below.
Please RECOMMEND, as slogans are important, and good ones do work (if a compatible agenda goes with the slogan), and we must discuss them and let the leadership hear our sugegstions.

OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR IRRELEVANCE AND MINORITY STATUS.

Apparently, the mighty Carl Rove will be heading the New Orleans Reconstruction efforts: see here, and here.
Now, exactly where is the democratic leadership raising hell about it (and liberal blogosphere, where art thou?).
More below the fold.

The results so far: 68% FOR Gore in 2008, 32% AGAINST. among those that participated in this poll (96 votes for, and 46 votes against).
In case you haven't voted in the "Gore'08 Delta Poll", which allows readers to vote for Al Gore (who was unfortunately missing in myDD's July straw poll) as their preferred nominee for 2008, here is the link:

Hi,
since myDD's July straw poll (http://www.mydd.com/poll/1121207247_AJcwWLRf) did NOT include Al Gore, I posted a "Gore'08 Delta Poll" where people can vote for Gore and/or retract their previous vote for other potential candidates. This Delta-poll is in this diary of mine:
http://www.mydd.com/story/2005/7/13/103215/913
At 6pm, with 79 votes cast (the diary lasted only a couple of hours on the frontpage), Al Gore's support was: 69% FOR and 31% AGAINST. It is evident from the delta-poll that Al Gore should be considered a well-sought potential candidate and be included in straw polls such as the current one at myDD.
If you like Al Gore or otherwise, but haven't voted in the delta-poll, please go and vote:

Thanks,
Neo

Hi,
IMO, myDD's July straw poll for Prez'08 should have included Gore (who was an exemplary Vice President for our nation), at least to guage the pulse of people on his candidacy. Since Chris didn't include Gore in the (straw poll) on the frontpage, here is a chance to vote for Gore.
[Update:] If you'd like to offset what I think is an unfair handicap for Al Gore, please recommend this diary so that it gets into the "recommended list" and stays there till the main straw poll expires on Friday. Thanks.

I haven't seen anyone else post this. Sally Jenkins has a very nice article on Dean and his candidness over at WaPo:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/28/AR2005062801074.html?nav=hcmodule
Update: Actually, here is the link to a printer friendly version of the article:
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/printer_070305F.shtml
ACTION ITEM: Please save the shtml file from the second link, and email it to as many people as you can (friends, family). And make sure you send a copy to anyone trying to spread false impressions of Gov. Dean, such as Amity Shlaes whote this recent article:
http://www.amityshlaes.com/?2005-06-19, and here I rebutted that article:
http://www.mydd.com/story/2005/6/21/193351/129.
Technical Note: when you save the file, save it with a .html extension. This way, when you include it as an attachment, if the recipient has the "html" option turned on, the article will apear directly in their mail reader program. Alternatively, you could also send the URL itself, but it may or may not be a permanent one.
Please look inside the "extended entry" for another important action item on papertrails for Evoting machines.
