She Proves Herself: Matthews Praises Hillary Clinton [UPDATE X2]

I was at the gym today running on the treadmill watching Hardball. I do admit my loyalty to the show because of the political coverage, analysis, and theories. I still throw up in my mouth sometimes on some comments but overall, I still remain loyal to the show.

Anyways, I was running at my usual pace of 6.6 miles per hour when Matthews presented his weekly Hardball Award. This week's winner was no other Hillary Clinton. The first woman ever awarded. I starting thinking to myself "Oh gawd, now what did she do that he sees as wrong or intent to undermine Obama's Presidency."

But when he started talking, and I am not joking here, I laughed out loud so loudly, I counted four people who turned around to look. I literally choked on my water because I could not believe what he was saying. Yes Chris Matthews, on Hardball, saying this about Hillary Clinton. I stopped running, scratched may head, and just began to laugh. I even walked over to my cell phone and called a close friend who follows the show. She was simply amazed.(In her defense, she told me early on to get over the Hillary loss in the Primary and support Obama...which eventually I did because of her...Thanks Ms. Davis).

I bring this up for a couple of reasons:

1. Matthews had to apologize on air for Hillary Comments during the primary.

2. Matthews was reported to say how flabergasted he was when Obama chose her as Sec. of State. I will update later with the find.

3. He continually spoke against her campaign for the Senate.

4. He continually spoke against her vote for the Irag war.

The words that came out of his mouth just wasn't expected. The reason I am posting is this: I have just a little bit more respect for this man. I always thought he had a one track mind, but I am wrong.

I just want to thank him for those kind words, she does love what she is doing, and she is doing her best...for Obama and her country.

Running at 6.6 mph ??

Running is what you do when you have both feet off the ground for at least some fraction of the time. If you always have at least one feet on the ground... at all times, then you are not running.

Sorry for the rant... been my pet peeve since forever!!

Yes, it's amazing...

To see the contrast b/w his show and Rachel Maddow's. Of all the MSNBC shows, hers is probably the only truly intelligent discussion of the news, going beyond the "what" to examine the "who, when, where, why, and how". Matthews, OTOH, is all about the political games and little (if anything) about the issues beneath the surface.

Or have you just started watching the misogynistic, W enabler, the jerk or simply says and supports whomever or whatever is "in" at the moment.

Matthews was cheering W AFTER he invaded Iraq.
Matthews not only personally despised the Clintons, he used his personal vendetta against them to trash Al Gore, lie about Al, and help put W of the "sunny nobility" (Matthews words) into office.

Long before Obama was even in the race, Matthews was trashing Hillary for being a woman.
Better himself? with whom? some in the progressive community who gave the jerk a pass because he pretended to admire any and everyone who was against Hillary?

This is a man who STILL invites the likes of Dick Armey on his show and sits in silence as the man attacks and insults a fellow journalist who happens to be a woman. This is a man who calls the likes of Tom Delay "buddy" and says for all to hear "I owe you one..."
This is a man who gave a voice time after time to racist Ann Coulter.

Please.....calling Matthews latest spin "bettering himself" is hardly enlightened.

Yeah, it's surprising that he said anything nice about Hill at all.

But I still think he's an f'in' asshole. He is a SEXIST PIG - I think he should have been FIRED by MSNBC last year for all the sexist remarks he made.

Had he made racist comments, he would have been removed = but MSNBC (which I am still boycotting) seems to think it's just fine to trash women.

I'm still on a rampage about the media's treatment towards women and Chris Matthews is at the top of the list of examples I use to show what they have gotten away with.

I sort of doubt that: the media seems to be pretty tolerant of racist comments too. Nobody got removed over "Obama's Baby Mama", for example. Lou Dobbs still has a show.

Let's get to the real journalistic question:

As Matthews blathered on about Hillary, did a thrill run up his leg???

The man is not taken seriously anymore....he's on a par with Sean Hannity, maybe O'Reilly. NBC was right to yank him and Olberman off the Election Night Desk; they're in the advocacy business, a la Lou Dobbs--they don't report news.

I was pretty confident Hillary at found the right job for herself at the confirmation hearings, and so far, she's done nothing to dissuade me from the idea that she'll make a great SoS.

Let's be clear

Matthews is a sexist pig. the ONLY reason he "likes" hillary now is because she is in a subservient role to the President. If she remained an Independent Powerful Woman, he would continue to chastise her.
