Strategy Meeting for all Obama haters

The more we work to defeat this horrible candidate the less traction we seem to be able to get. It's time we reviewed some of our tactics and discussed new, more effective ones. During the primary, we tried to paint him as an inexperienced, ineffective liberal. That didn't seem to work. The fools voted for him anyway. It's time for something new.

The biggest problem we are having is that Barry won't stand still and let us smear him. We'll make up a new smear about him, like throwing Clark under the bus and then he'll do or say something that makes us look stupid. Well, I'm tired of looking stupid. Aren't you?

At first, we tried to say he was weak. Then he built a powerful campaign machine that beat Hillary, so our "he's too weak" claims had to be discarded. The next step was to claim he was "too good of a politician". That gave him too much credit so our new claim is that he is a 'typical' politician who was schooled in the rough-and-tumble Chicago school of politics. Please stay with this meme until we can come up with a new one.

We tried to scare the voters by pointing out he is a black man. An angry, black man. When that didn't seem to scare people enough we switched to saying he isn't black enough. Even Nader said this. I think our new tactic should be that he is both white and black, but that he has the worst of both races and none of the good. When some of the bigots on our side complain about saying there is anything good about blacks or anything bad about whites tell them that saying this is only a tactic and that we don't really mean it.

Religion has been a big deal in recent elections, which is why we tried to play that card against Obama. Even on this, he's so skinny and makes such a poor target that we couldn't hit him with a no-brainer like religion.

I think part of the problem we are having with this tactic is because we are contradicting each other. One person will try to paint him as a Muslim, because his father was a lapsed Muslim and at the same time, someone else on our side will claim he is a secret practitioner of black liberation theology, which is Christian. At the same time, some on our side are claiming he isn't a Christian or Muslim. The claim is that he is an atheist who is only using religion as a political tool. We are sending out conflicting messages.

None of those claims seem to be having an effect so I say it's time we came together on one claim. I think we should call him a Chrismuslithist. That will cover all bases. People won't know what it means, but they will realize that he "isn't one of us".

During the primary, we tried to paint him as a far-left, radical liberal. We made up stories and pointed to stances he has taken on the issues that were left-of-center. Our Republican and neo-con friends, like Rush (don't  ya just love him!), helped push this theme. Unfortunately, it didn't scare off enough voters. I guess too many people were actually paying attention to what Obama was saying to buy into the 'flaming liberal' claim. It's time to shift gears, as we have so many times in this election cycle.

The new meme is that he is not liberal enough. This is kind of like the "not black enough" tactic. If we push this hard enough, maybe we can scare some liberals into voting for McCain instead. After all, McCain is a moderate if you ignore his record on women's issues, foreign affairs, the economy, Supreme Court appointments, etc... Let's keep complaining that Obama is a centrist in the mold of Bill Clinton. Now stay on message. Run to the progressive web sites every time Obama proves he's not a radical and start screaming out the new message.

We've made fools of ourselves far too many times in this election. It's time we got our message straight. Here's the new meme. Use any or all parts of it when posting on progressive sites. You don't need to post it on the good sites, like noquarter or puma.org since we all get it already.

Here it is: Obama is a radical, leftist, liberal, neo-con, Chrismuslithist, black/white, Bill Clinton clone. Get it straight.

Hillary2012 (or McCain 2008, whichever floats your boat)!!!!!!

Don't try to be cute.

This comment is sick even by your standards. Accusing another user of being a pedophile is downright outrageous. Don't give me the innocent "I was just saying he was kid" comment. Your not as subtle as you think.

Little boys?

Hugs and requests for dates?

You are one pathetic fuck. If they don't ban your ass after this comment they never will.

Re: Don't try to be cute.

This is what he's been reduced to, posting this kind of junk. I like to think I helped bring that about. He's become marginalized and will soon be no more annoying than the whine of a mosquito. Have you noticed that he doesn't dare engage me on anything of substance? He gave up on that quite awhile ago. Now he's reduced to infantile rantings.

Re: If Only

All the charges against Obama are sticking, no matter how contradictory, because he has deliberately obscured what he really stands for, which is nothing. He will go down in flames in November, and for the right reasons. People won't vote for a nonentity they cannot believe in. Even the ardent supporters are waking up to the fact that he is a corrupt, unprincipled product of marketing overlaid upon corrupt Chicago machine politics.

Your sarcasm only serves to reinforce the divisions already firmly in place, but you folks keep whistling in the graveyard to distract yourselves from what you cannot face in your vacuous candidate, empty of integrity, destitute of all meaning and hope.

CG, how do you see the Clark thing as being valid? I'm afraid you lost me there. Clark says something on TV. The next day Obama supports Clark's right to say that while warning his supporters to not denigrate McCain's service. Since that's not what Clark did the warning doesn't apply to him.

i saw it as more of the dirt flinging ad feigning innocence we saw during the primary.  (which in the this case - since its targeted at mccain i have far less of a probelm with) but come on now - you can see how people would be upset in as much as how clark is taking major heat for something he shouldn't have.

I never said I was into "new politics". That's Obama's thing.

I'm guessing this diarist is not Barack Obama.
Wow! Good guess.

What point do you think you are making by beating this drum relentlessly?
Showing how most of the attacks and smears thrown at Obama are really silly and how those who are against him keep flip-flopping on their message. Get it now?

We agree on the first two points, and the drum I was referring to is Juno's not yours.

Re: I was responding to Juno

MSO1 thought he/she was responding to me.

btw, I disagree with MS01, but I do not call him/her an "it", based purely on my knowledge that he/she is a human being, and it is demeaning and wrong to refer to people as "its".

I knew that even w/o Obama's inspiration.  You did not even with it!

Funny that.

Re: Sure

So you are saying, as have I, that Obama cannot in fact inspire change.

Got it.

by Juno 2008-07-03 03:46AM | 0 recs
Does not

in this diarist.  Not the same as "cannot".  I'm not interested in "inspiring change".  I'm just interested in changing executive policy.  Perhaps you should pay less attention to slogans and more attention to policy.

by JJE 2008-07-03 07:47AM | 0 recs
Re: Ding ding ding!

Just curious:

Your referring to human being as "it", does that come from the new-found appreciation for faith or from all that hope and change and inspiration Obama is spreading across the land?

by Juno 2008-07-02 04:06PM | 0 recs
It comes from

Re: Strategy Meeting for all Obama haters

This must be like the sudden liking of a faith based gov't. program by people who were against it prior: it's different if Obama does it.

So yes, division and rancor and negative attack politics are fine, even humorous, so long as it comes from the Obama side of things, but otherwise, it's really, really bad.

I think I'm finally getting the Obama phenomenon!

Re: Strategy Meeting for all Obama haters

Ah yes, more of that now famous Obama inspiration, I see.

All you do is on your own indicate that Obama's words are meaningless and that he cannot in fact affect change, even among his own supporters.

Or is it that, as I said in another post, it's different when Obamans practice the old politics of personal attacks and nastiness and it is everyone else who must change?

Feel free to explain it for me. I admit I don't get it.

by Juno 2008-07-02 04:32PM | 0 recs

Re: Strategy Meeting for all Obama haters

Correct. I've yet to get an answer.

I do keep getting PERSONALLY attacked, a la the old, negative, divisive politics, I think in order to avoid actually having my question answered.

Funny how Obama supporters avoid those questions at all cost...and ironically, with personal attacks!

Please, by all means, explain for me how this diary and these responses are evidence of a new, Obama-inspired politic.

Needless to say, I will not hold my breath.

Re: Strategy Meeting for all Obama haters

Well seeing as all of your attacks failed, there is only one solution to your problem.

To find out the solution you have to first identify the problem.

As you noted above:

you Obama haters have tried to make him out to bee too far left, then too far right only to have this idea backfire and people continue to flock to his campaign.

You've said he's too black, and too white only to have this idea backfire and people continue to flock to his campaign.

You've said hes a Muslim, and then a Christian only to have this idea backfire and people continue to flock to his campaign.

You've impuned the people around him to show how radical he is only to have this idea backfire and people continue to flock to his campaign.

on and on it went only to have this idea backfire and people continue to flock to his campaign.

What is the commonality, is it the contradictions? NO.  It's that YOU said it.

The only way you can convince people to reject Obama, I'm afraid, is to embrace him.

That's right, go on the blogs, call your friends and neighbors, tell everyone that you are supporting Obama, because everything you have supported ends up being a lost cause!

The point is simple:  REAL Obama haters will SUPPORT Obama because they always support lost causes.  All the rest of you are FAKE Obama haters and should be called out at every possible turn!
