I don't understand. Carville isn't being paid by Clinton. Why is that regarded as somehow trivial? If he is acting as official consultant to the campaign, could it be that he shares the Clinton's opinions on many issues? And could it also be the reason why he is on TV "on message" as you say, because of the nature of his political belief system?
If he's not on the payroll, I don't see what the fuss is about. Plus he's a bad political analyst. How does that help Hillary?
The word "Iraq" is nowhere in it. It is a resolution to authorize force against the perpetrators of the acts of 9/11! This is just ridiculous. Yes, the proper vote would have been to oppose the resolution, since we all know that use of force without the authorization of Congress is a bad idea, on top of being just plain wrong. But it is folly to suggest that those who voted to authorize use of force (the president already had such authorization anyway, by dint of being CIC, so the resolution was ipso facto meaningless) were voting FOR THE WAR.
Her vote should be criticized, but she has been an opponent of the Bush military policies, even though I would have preferred her to be more militant. Militancy doesn't sell well in upstate NY, and she needed their approval to remain in office. Though in all likelihood, there wasn't anyone likely to beat her, no matter where she ran. Reason? She's a very well liked figure, and left wing blogs might be well advised to recognize and acknowledge that fact. She's not a persistent cough, or a case of herpes. She's hanging around for a reason. People like her.
Here's my take. Republicans in NJ will not accept any income tax hike. But the sales tax hike affects the average consumer, and so will be wildly unpopular. Corzine is insulated from political fallout, but not so the local legislatures. However, the Dems in NJ will be excused by voters for promoting some form of tax hike. Not so Repubs.
So I think Corzine is attempting to use the sales tax threat as a wedge to force the Repubs to accept some form of income tax hike or realignment, and therefore removing their favorite political theme for all eternity. The day that NJ Repubs are forced to favor an income tax hike is the day the yield the floor forever.
OMFG. Please continue to update us on the progress of these two campaigns. Please, please, please Jesus let Weldon's shenanigans get a proper airing. Is Slestak going to hammer Weldon on the Moonie angle?
Suddenly Weldon's attack on Slestak's daughter makes sense, given how it makes it a bit difficult for Slestak to say "my daughter's off limits," and then turn around and criticize Weldon's daughter. At least that's what Weldon must be banking on.
You're wasting everybody's time by obsessing about such trivialities as the history of safety violations and the callous indifference to the plight of workers while the bottom line gets sucked on like a porn star with a tooth ache.
Clearly it was an act of god. Simple as that. Now let's have a bunch of nice funerals, heavy on the bunting, and be done with it shall we. That's what I call "new source review."
