I thought it worked pretty well. Honestly, the part that I didn't like was the Hillary-air-spank stuff. That's clearly lowbrow pandering. The rest I really liked -- but then again, I really hate Hillary, and therefore like anything that reinforces what a superficial patronizing machine she is.
The bit could be sharper, but it's on the right track. The key is not to try to be all things to all people. There's no point in mixing satire that's aimed at the politically aware with goofy 'hillary + sex' motions.
She's shown no leadership and has no authority, moral or otherwise. She's the only Dem who could possibly lose in november 2008. By then Iraq will have done even more damage to the Republican brand. Only a Hillary candidacy could energize the right and depress the left enough to keep the GOP in the WH.
Why such a softball interview? I know you want continued access, but come on. Pelosi doesn't deserve to be let off the hook like this. She's the only Democratic leader with an ounce of integrity -- the least you could do is make her take a real stand and remind us of that fact.
Too bad he's an idiot. His favorite SCOTUS justice was anti-roe 'Whizzer' White, because he was an Athlete.
He also has a 'zipper problem' a-la Clinton (that's the rumor, anyhow)
And he takes plenty of money from big pharma and big health care, just like Hillary.
Single Payer advocates in NM are glad he's out, because he was a clear roadblock to getting something meaningful done there.
Here are three parts of this post that really resonated with me:
I believed in the American status quo, but, when it failed, it rubbed something fundamental in my character, a rawness that had always been there, in my person and in my people.
And that's because of you, because you have helped me to understand what I never did before, that there is a thirst for people who have strong voices, for people who speak in politics as a moral story.
The blogs are not a technology platform, but are a representation of what happens when an institutional leadership betrays its stakeholders. The media, the political system, and the Democratic Party both consistently betray us as liberals, and so the blogosphere is a mixture of organizing against the media, the political system and the Democratic Party.
I don't think the MSM has any idea how much the blogosphere has nurtured radicalism. This radicalism is a natural outgrowth of the clearly immoral culture of washington -- but there was no real, efficient way to express it prior to the liberal blogs.
If I were a member of the media/political/military establishment, I would be thinking about an escape route in the near future. The progressive movement is incredibly well organized, morally coherent, and radical. Everything the current Democratic party is not.
This is going to get ugly... and I wouldn't want it any other way.
That's not the issue he brought up.
He brought up a different issue than that.
He was talking about how the Metropolitian Wing (Liberals) are being intolerant (!).
I just think it's a bs argument. As long as a pol is with me on economic/trade issues, he can do what he wants with regards to moral issues like Abortion/Gun Control.
There are, however, certain principles we can't compromise on. Science and evolution need to be respected. Racism and xenophobia aren't acceptable.
The thing is, I don't think Mudcat was defending racism or xenophobia, which means he was arguing about a non-existent problem.
In his column, Joe said, "...the smart stuff is being drowned out by a fierce, bullying, often witless tone of intolerance that has overtaken the left-wing sector of the blogosphere." Amen.
[FYI, sucking Joe Klein's dick isn't a good think]
and then to cap it off, a big fat strawman:
"those Democratic bloggers, who have appointed themselves as intellectually superior and believe the only way to win an argument is to shot the loudest with personal attacks, you can go to Hell"
Who? Did he name names? Who is he talking about? Why is he so concerned about the Democratic party? Are we in trouble? Oh No!!! Mudcat speaks for the south and for rural voters and he said my metropolitan wing is going to kick his people out of the tent!! We'd better listen to Mudcat or we're going to lose!!!!
He's telling the left wing to shut up. He's telling people who are justifiably angry, to shut up.
God damn it. I still don't care. I just hate the fact that you're trying to deny this reality.

ps. I hate hillary.

No, Hillary Clinton is doing the work of the GOP for them.
Most of us here do.

In other words, I disagree.

"I am saying if someone apologizes to someone in the south it would be accepted and leave it at that."
OK, but he didn't actually apologize for what he did.
It would be like if I was driving and I rear ended you, and my apology was "oh man, I'm sorry I was driving on this road".

And sucking Joe Klein's dick.
Oh, so he was criticizing people LIKE Stoller!
By agreeing with Joe Klein's patronizing, dismissive opinion of bloggers.
Solid.
oh man, you got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
