Rasmussen: Obama retakes lead

Finally, it seems that both Gallup and Rasmussen are in-line together. Today, Rasmussen has Obama up by 2% over Clinton, a 4% netgain for Obama from yesterday. In the same poll, it shows Obama beating McCain in Oregon by 6%, with Clinton losing by 6%. Meanwhile, yesterday Gallup showed Obama up by 4%.

I think you are gonna see a growing chorous of party elders over the next few days state that they think Clinton should step aside. You saw it today with Sen. Patrick Leahy. If Clinton wants to run this thing into August and create massive chaos, say goodbye to any goodwill to the Clintons, except from many Republicans.

Rasmussen should tend to change slower than Gallup, since (I believe) it is a four day average and Gallup is only three days. That does seem to prevent some of the wild swings Gallup always seems to face.

we hear the same argument every time either gallup or rasmussen swing a few points obama's way - time for hillary to drop out.

here's my prediction. the tracking polls will continue to do figure 8s for the next three months, hillary will stay in the race, and we'll get three diaries every time it moves 2 points obama's way.

The polls have been swing back & forth.

For the last two weeks, Clinton again came in strong. Now Obama is back up again.

Is swinging polls enough reason to END a campaign?

Many of the Liberal politicians supporting Obama do not realize what effect FORCING Clinton to quit will do to the party in November. They are so out of touch with the sentiments of Clinton supporters.

When Clinton is poised & favored to carry 75% of the remaining states in the next 3 months, DOES THAT LOOK & SOUND like a rank & file democratic party who wants her to QUIT ????

Obama is about to lose in the 5th largest electoral state in 3 weeks by a big margin.

Does that sound & look like a democratic party who wants our nominee ???

You cannot force the issue. You have to let it run its course. Or you end up losing an even greater percentage of Clinton people in November.

Then Obama is looking at a landslide defeat in november. He needs every single clinton supporter he can get. That's a FACT not an opinion.

I actually agree with you that we need to wait, probably at the very least until NC & IN vote, but not past mid-June. I'm an Obama supporter, but I think Obama needs to win in a solid way to help mend the party afterwards. I think margins after NC & IN vote will be significant.

I don't, however, agree with you about Clinton being expected/favored to win in 75% of the remaining contests. There are only 10 left. Obama is favored in NC, OR, MT, and SD, and the last IN poll (admittedly a long time ago) had him up 15%. Clinton is favored in PA, WV, and KY, and I'd even give you PR. Guam is 50/50.

How are you getting to 75%?

Clinton is favored in PA, WV, and KY. Little is know about PR (and it's not a state for that matter), but I'll grant that.

IN is a toss up. The only poll there had Obama up big, but it could go either way.

NC, OR are definite Obama states. MT and SD should probably lean Obama because he's been winning the Mountain Time Zone pretty heavily.

So I have 4-4 with one tie. OK I ignored Guam, but it'll go 2-2 with its delegates most likely.

Give Clinton IN and it's still just 5-4. What other states are you giving her and why?

It's funny how whenever it seems Clinton is doing well and is about to win some primaries, people start calling for her to step aside. People still have to vote, obamatons. The elections aren't over yet. You obamatons managed to end revotes in MI and FL, but you will not end the primary season early. Voters deserve to have their voices heard. Hillary is going to do very well in the remaining primaries. Are you scared, obamatons?

The continuing fracas is damaging the party's hopes of retaking the White House and expanding our majorities in the House and the Senate. So Clinton goes under the bus. The party exists to serve the people, not the other way around.
