Here is an example of the famous LBJ persuasion tactics when trying to get legislation passed on civil rights as the president.
Harry Reid would be wiser if he tried something like this:
"It wasn't just congratulations he (LBJ) wanted. One of the congressmen on the aisle was Emanuel Celler, the 76-year-old chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, which handled civil rights legislation. Long a rights champion but now an elderly man, Celler said he would start hearings on the bill the following week, but "I can't push that committee or it might get out of hand."
Suddenly, Johnson wasn't smiling. His eyes narrowed and his face turned cold. He was still shaking Celler's hand, but with his other hand he was jabbing at the old man. "Start them this week, Manny," he said. "And hold night sessions, too."
"AS I watch Barack Obama's speech to the Democratic convention tonight, I will be remembering another speech: the one that made Martin Luther King cry. And I will be thinking: Mr. Obama's speech -- and in a way his whole candidacy -- might not have been possible had that other speech not been given.
That speech was President Lyndon Johnson's address to Congress in 1965 announcing that he was about to introduce a voting rights act, and in some respects Mr. Obama's candidacy is the climax -- at least thus far -- of a movement based not only on the sacrifices and heroism of the Rev. Dr. King and generations of black fighters for civil rights but also on the political genius of Lyndon Baines Johnson, who as it happens was born 100 years ago yesterday."
I was also a big Clinton supporter, but seeing the huge differene where Clinton stands on the issues vs. Palin, Obama is getting my vote. Anyone who supported Hillary should be able to see this huge differene unless you are "Texas Darlin". All you Obama supporters were right about TD. She is not a real Hillary supporter or democrat.
A few hours ago, the news broke that Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has been selected by Sen. John McCain as the vice presidential candidate for the Republican ticket.
As a Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund supporter, you are no doubt aware of Governor Palin's dismal record, from her staunch support for special interests and Big Oil to her terrible assault on wolves and other wildlife.
As much of the nation wonders just who Sarah Palin is, I wanted to pass along my statement that I've just released.
Please read it and pass it along to everyone you know.
Thanks for your continued support"

Shocking Choice by John McCain
WASHINGTON-- Senator John McCain just announced his choice for running mate: Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. To follow is a statement by Rodger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund.
"Senator McCain's choice for a running mate is beyond belief. By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain has clearly made a decision to continue the Bush legacy of destructive environmental policies.
"Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska's coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration.
"This is Senator McCain's first significant choice in building his executive team and it's a bad one. It has to raise serious doubts in the minds of voters about John McCain's commitment to conservation, to addressing the impacts of global warming and to ensuring our country ends its dependency on oil."

"Salazar says senators didn't agree on endorsement"
"WASHINGTON -- Sen. Ken Salazar joined a small group of fellow undecided Democratic superdelegates on Capitol Hill today, but said they reached no agreement on whether to endorse a presidential candidate as a group.
The gathering created a major stir amid published reports that up to 15 previously uncommitted senators were on the verge of giving a united endorsement to Democratic front-runner Sen. Barack Obama.
That did not happen at the meeting inside the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee offices, where Salazar and the only three other participants left by a backdoor to avoid more than a dozen reporters who staked out the front door.
Later, Salazar said the meeting had been "a dialogue without an agenda" and added he had spoken to "12 or 13" Democratic colleagues in the past few days.
"I could make the argument for either one of them," Salazar said about Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton. "Many people can make the argument that maybe the best thing would be for both of them to be on the same ticket."
Salazar said the possibility of a joint ticket was discussed at today's meeting. "There was some of that discussion, but there's no conclusion," he said."
Because the TDP officials threatened the Clinton campaign before, during and after the primary and caucus on March 4th. I live in Texas and saw and heard it with my own ears and eyes.
After the TX primary and caucus, even the republican editorial board of the Dallas Morning News stated that the Texas Two-step should be abolished now!
How about praising Ronald Reagan in the biggest ways possible and dissing Bill Clinton`s eight years every chance he could? What a great thing for a democrat to do! Another "uniter" for sure!
My thoughts and prayers are with both Senator Byrd and Senator Kennedy. Two rocks of the Senate! We need their wisdom more than ever in our government! Get well soon!
Hillary has had the momentum since the March 4th primaries. She has a popular vote lead of 370,342 votes before last nights primaries in KY and OR sinc March 4th.
Since March 4th her total popular vote is approximately 6,505,747 including Ky and OR.
Obama`s total popular vote since Mar 4th is apporximately 5,989,447 vots including KY and OR.
This gives Hillary a popular lead since Mar 4th of 516,300 votes. She is the winner of the second half of the primary for over 2 months now with the popular vote, and therefor has the big mo going into Denver. If she does well in PR as expected, this lead in the popular vote will grow even further. She is the fighter to win the GE as she has proved by coming on strong in the last 2 plus months!
