Does anyone really think a Dem is going to be elected in 2008 without the direct financial and political support of the Clintons?
We all have some (or many) problems with the Clinton presidency. One thing I don't fault him on is the lack of building of the democratic infrastructure. I seem to remember Dems running AWAY from Clinton as fast as they could - even running away from Gore because of Clinton. IMO, both Gore and Kerry made fatal mistakes in waiting too long to bring in Clinton people and advisors in their campaigns.
I think at some point, our expectations have to be based more in reality than in principle. IMO, a democratic administration with heavy Clinton influence is going to come one hell of alot closer to the policies I believe in and want than any republican administration.
Getting back on topic, the blogging phenomena is amazing and a true common grass roots revolution. Some Dems have embraced it, and I won't criticize the Clintons for reaching out to it. If the distrust is there for them - fine.
Let's wait and see what they want. The biggest point is to ensure an administration is elected that will have policies closer to what we believe in - let's not turn on ourselves.
It's looking locally like KY-04 may be in good shape, and KY-02 is going to be tight, but KY-03 is going to be the most heated contest - Yarmuth needs the help, but he can beat Northup
I appreciate the stories, and I'm embarrassed that moveon.org and GCI may even POSSIBLY be this dis-organized and dis-functional.
So how about we talk about how to get this info in front of some moveon and GCI people and discuss constructive and effective ways to make our effort better.
OR we can can sit around and complain about how those aren't really the blogging rules
Come on people, are we really that arrogant to think that we've won the election already? We need to take it to the freaking republicans every single hour till elections, their onslaught is coming and we're sitting around bickering about blogging rules and debating the authenticity of the author
That detailed analysis is good stuff.
It's unfortunate that there was only a single race to pull data from. As posted by others, it's hard to validate results from a single district since there could be so many other factors affecting those particular results.
Having said that - I do feel the 6 rules to run by are pretty good. I personally feel ANY candidate for public office should spend significant time on the ground and find out what people are saying - town meetings, getting out, things like that. Consultants are important, but sometimes they cause you to lose site of local issues. GM can do everything stock analysts tell them to do to make their company better, but until they make a better CAR, things won't improve for them
I'm truly amazed and inspired by the grassroots efforts being undertaken here and on other sites.
