Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

Today, Francis L. Holland, a Black blogger who helped start the AfroSpear blogger group with his fiery essays, strongly criticized Hillary Clinton in the Washington Post for Clinton's "color aroused appeals" for animosity based on skin-color.

"We are tired of Hillary Clinton telling America that we are less than American simply because we refuse to vote for her," said Francis L. Holland, an African American blogger. "Ironically, the Clintons embraced us, and even embraced Pastor Jeremiah Wright for support during their impeachment scandal." Holland was speaking of the congressional trial that followed former president Bill Clinton's liaison with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. "She has forfeited the black vote for the forseeable future with her color aroused appeals." Washington Post

Washington Post staff writer Darry Fears wrote,

There was yet another sign of racial disharmony in the Democratic Party today, as the leader of the influential black online advocacy group ColorOfChange.org lashed out at Hillary Clinton, calling her claim to owning the white, blue-collar vote "race baiting."

"The politics of division now seems to be her core strategy" to overcome Barack Obama's lead in the primary, said James Rucker, a co-founder of ColorOfChange who once worked for the liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org. "It's a strategy where everyone loses; we can do better and we should be able to expect better from Senator Clinton."

ColorOfChange, which has 400,000 members and relies on a large network of black bloggers to spread its message, recently circulated a petition warning the Democratic party that adopting rules that would allow Clinton to overcome Obama's lead "could be the worst mistake the party has ever made." Washington Post

The access that afrosphere bloggers now have to the national press means that when Blacks are aggrieved it is not only Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who can speak out on our behalf.  Every Black person with a blog and raise a voice, and these blogs interlinked through the AfroSpear and Color of Change are making Blacks' voices heard as never before in the presidential race.

MORE

In addition, this report on Holland in the Washington Post marks the first time that his "color arousal" concept has been reported in the national press, as an empirically-based and scientific alternative to charges and counter-charges of "racist" and "racism".

Earlier, Francis L. Holland and the Afrosphere Action Coalition circulated another petition through the afrosphere, urging "Concede Now, Hillary!"

Well, I think he does Obama no favors with this.

She can probably fund raise in WV and Kentucky just by mailing out that blog post?

It looks like this is the same Francis Holland who previously made wild accusations against Obama, Kos, and everybody else in the world. Here is his blog posting of June 28, 2007 calling Kos a CIA secret agent:

For much amusement

you could go look up his old diaries at dKos.  My question is why Washington Post would take anything this guy says seriously...I know that Kossacks did not.

Mr. Holland

was laughed off Dkos many years ago...even the great orange satan couldn't stomach his tripe.

Re: Mr. Holland

Mr holland was a huge Hillary supporter at that time. He was getting attacked more for his hillary support than any racial issues at the time on MYDD. yet , he saw everything through an oppressed spectrum.

Re: Mr. Holland

It is.  And he is a delusional loon.  I can't believe he's getting any play at all.  Look up his old diaries on Kos.  Completely nuts.

Ignoring Hillary's race-baiting is the best course

Obama, when asked about Hillary's comments, said "No comment."

That's the page all Obama supporters should be on at this point.

You are right

because every Hillary supporter will have to ignore Obama's race baiting if he gets the nomination.  I have already forgiven him for his 'sexual preference baiting', I hope I can forgive him on the former.

Re: You are right

So at which point in time will Clinton stop dividing voters into white voters and black voters, and at the same time implying white voters mean more than black ones?

Who is Francis and why should I care?

For a very long time

he was one of the - if not the - most vociferous supporters of Senator Clinton in the blogosphere.

That still doesn't answer my

question.

Re: For a very long time

It's a pity really. I looked at his blog and if you look past his habit of self promoting PR releases and his martyr complex, I found some of the incidents and issues he brings up on his blog interesting. He rarely ever brought that up here on MYDD. He just went on these superlong rants.

Re: For a very long time

He's not a bad guy.  I had some good exchange with him over at the orange.

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

Isn't Manic Lawyer the same guy as Francis? What kind of guy refers to himself in the third person and then goes about a little intro praising himself? This one is a strange dude.

I remember this guy. As usual, he will bring up a couple of valid points(the lack of enough  links to black sites on the blogroll, the lack of enough understanding on black issues which led to many "liberal" whites feeeling blindsided by the Wright issue when the fact is there are a lot of angry older black mem who harbor deep resentments over past treatments but are not as verbose as Wright). Unfortunately, as usual, he also has to include a huge dose of martyr complex mixed in with some pretentious word usage. I looked at his blog and there were a couple of interesting items which we could have used at MYDD. Unfortunately, he rarely ever put up those kind of items during his tenure as FrancisHolland at MYDD.

He thinks he knows everything but was dead wrong on Hillary. He was so sure Hillary would be so different from a white guy like Edwards as far as his POV was concerned. Now he goes to the other extreme including asking Hillary to drop out for the last few months when she has every right to contest because his mind cant handle how wrong he was about what she represented to him.

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

By the way, as I said, despite Mr holland's inability to put up a straightforward post sticking to the issue, I agree with the point that Hllary race baited. And no, I am not saying she is a racist. I do believe she does not discriminate. However, the way she conflated hard working Americans with White is a conflation too often used by many bigoted people in the US. Some of you hillary supporters lost all your marbles when obama made that bitter comment but come to her defense when Hillary makes a calculated statement like this.

Obama supporters should let this one die

And I am one.  Further racialization of this election is not to Obama's benefit.

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

I whole heartedly agree with Francis Holland and am deeply saddened and extremely ticked off with HRC's tactics. If I knew how to post the post I wrote regarding this I would - just haven't found my way around this site yet. But, for any one who chooses, please feel free to read my post entitled "Through My Uppity Negro Eyes" which can be found at http://sojournersplace.blogspot.com. SjP

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

Why do you never write PRO-Obama diaries? When you write about the candidates, it's always anti-Clinton. Kind of a creepy obsession, actually... You might want to talk to someone about that.

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

Scricki - my point exactly. What is unfortunate, however, is that the candidate you are supporting is the one who is telling you that your vote or support does not matter. SjP

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

Oh, really? That's funny. I live in one of those red states which "doesn't matter", and yet I've never felt as if my candidate thought I was unimportant.

No one asked you for your antagonistic bullshit, by the way. I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to the diarist. So unless you're one of Manic Lawyer's sockpuppets, do everyone a favor and bugger the f*** off. Thanks in advance.

Re: Francis L. Holland Slams HRC in WaPost

Actually Francis used to be a die hard Hillary supporter who took a lot of flak here for writing pro Hillary diaries in the past.
