    I always thought that song was about King Louis XVI of France - the one right before the french revolution.

  • comment on a post The Myth That 60 Doesn't Matter over 3 years ago

    If we get 60 exactly there's a flip side.  Every Democratic Senator thinks that hisher vote alone can stop a piece of legislation and use it to demand some pork.

    I'm not suggesting that 58 or 59 is preferable over exactly 60, just that no matter what, the Senate will demand negotiations and pork.  No matter how much the people demand change.

    giving him an opportunity to be seen on equal footing with Bush himself.

    And that would be a good thing????
  • Is that meant to be snark?

  • People are already being thrown out in the streets.  Haven't you been paying attention?  Foreclosures is what got us into this mess.  Giving money to banks and investment firms because they got burned when OTHER people got thrown out of their home's does not seems fair.

    To be fair, the poll has a margin of error of 3%, so technically I suppose as few as -3% could believe the economy is "getting better."

    That's right.  Conservative policies have so wrecked this nation that even dead people and fictional characters realize how F'ed up everything is.

    Just wanted to point something out to ya.  Your losing streak isn't as bad as you describe.

    Al gore actually won in 2000.  So, really, you aren't doing too bad.

    I agree with what Matt Stoller said just before "mini" super Tuesday:

    I have no idea what is going to happen, but my general rule of thumb is that the most annoying scenario is also the most likely scenario

    By that, I predict Clinton will win about +10 (say 54C - 44O).  Enough to get a moral victory, but not even close enough to start eating away at Obama's pledged delegate lead.  Therefore, this prolonged argument about who's the most "electable" continues at least into June.

    Let me just finish your formula for ya...

    Let X = Guy, Friend, or Buddy
    Let Y = Guy, Friend, or Buddy
    Let Z = Guy, Friend, or Buddy
    Let X != Y
    Let Y != Z
    Let Z != X

    X.
    don't X,Y
    don't Y,Z
    don't Z,X
    don't X,Y
    don't Y,Z
    etc.

    There!  My High School Algebra Two teach would be proud.

  • Well, once i calmed him down, I found out she use too date the biker dude and he happened to show up at the same bar as my friend and her were at.

    He was afraid he was going to break in one night and slit his throat.  I told him, "Gang members aren't like that.  They're psychopathic.  If he'd wanted to kill you he'd broken a queue in half and stabbed you right at the bar."  - Amazingly, that made him feel a lot better... but he still broke it off with her the next day.
