I thought MySpace IS open, like Facebook now is. I understood that MySpace already allows outside apps (audio, video) which is why it has the messy appearance, but Nancy, you, are saying just the opposite, that MySpace is a closed system. Would you clarify?

If on any day of the week Washington, DC is a circus, then on Thursday it was a Kafkaesque madhouse. On the day that a swearing-in ceremony confirmed a Democratic majority, the city thronged with a potent mixture of giddy energy, power hunger, and raw optimism.

Walking around the Capitol Hill reception circuit was like walking through "Who's Who" of Democratic politics. Bill Clinton could be seen zooming by in a black SUV. There was SEIU's Andy Stern walking with his retinue. Rich Trumpka of the AFL-CIO impatiently waited to shake Sen. Casey's hand. Madeleine Albright regally rambled thought the halls of Congress, while Chuck Schumer backslapped his buddies nearby.

Amid these prominent players moved a herd of nameless tourists, state-level supporters, donors, lobbyists, and job hunters. All resonated with the giddy radiance that screamed "we have arrived." What the Democrats actually accomplish remains to be seen. But on this one day, it was hard not to get caught up in the enthusiasm.
