Jack Murtha, American patriot

I just got finished listening to Jack Murtha on Tweety Matthews show, and on CNN, and after listening to him, I feel that he should be given the tell it like it is award. Mr. Murtha put it in plain terms about the huge mistake the Iraqi war has become, and said that Bush has no idea what the hell he is doing, and that our troops should begin a major pullback from frontline positions, and should start coming home. Murtha also went on to say that the troops were lied to about the time they were to serve in Iraq. Some troops are serving in their third or fourth tours of duty, and that should not happen with a modern army like we have. Murtha also complained about the cost of the war so far. Some 250 billion dollars have been spent, after several assurances by the White House that this would not be a burden on the taxpayer.
On the CNN interview, Wolf Blitzer brought up and interview with Peter Pace, the joint chiefs of staff chairman. Pace said that Murtha was hurting troop morale, and said his words were not helping with the situation in Iraq. Murtha dismissed Pace's attacks on him, and called for our troops to have better armor, better weapons and again called for troops to begin withdrawing, and the Iraqi's to step up to start protecting their homeland. He also said that this is now a civil war between Shiites and Sunni's and that our troops were caught in the middle. Jack Murtha hit it on the head. This is a Democratic hawk, that is sick and tired of seeing the troops fight a hopeless war. We need more of the Jack Murtha's to come out and slap the taste out of the chickenhawk crowd. George Bush has killed 2242 of our bravest, and he doesn't care. He has completely gone insane. Now he's looking into the possibility of getting involved in Iran. Jack Murtha is an American hero, a marine combat veteran, and the voice of reason in a situation where reason has flown out the window. We need more people like Murtha in Congress.

Re: Jack Murtha, American patriot

Liebermanlives, you're onto something here.

The one thing I would caution against, however,is that the observation that Murtha is both a revered and well loved American hawk and that he is a patriot is nothing new.

Only those who have been, well, essentially blinded are able to say anything like Murtha is a bozo. Its not even worth talking about in my book.

In a war, like in the Civil war, there are these great men that rise up. Republican Abe Lincoln rose during the great civil war and realized, that men do not die because of a federal incursion into states rights. They give their lives for a higher cause.

So Murtha stands up and says, alright - here we have a president who ran from his call to serve his country.  And a vice president and circle of people around him, the great general colin powell called "the effing crazies who are in charge"

And a clear, trumped up case to go to war, and to my mind the single most damning piece of evidence of all... a map, that shows how Karl Rove shopped the persian gulf to Texas oil companies.... um.. you know like the one that posted a THIRT"Y SIX BILLION DOLLAR PROFIT just yesterday... before the war ever began.

Finally - you have bin laden getting past us - the man who mercilessly murdered and attacked us , who threw the gauntlet down of war - Bin Laden just being allowed to get away pretty as you please.

That is the worst part of it of all.
The real enemy getting away.

So Murtha stands up, and yes, not only as a patriot.

Bush thinks being in Iraq is somehow part of all of this...

Bush Cut and Ran, when he was called to Serve. Then , he cut and ran, when he was close to his family pal, Bin Laden.

Murtha is saying something different than its patriotic to consider alternatives.

He's saying the entire thing is a goat fuck.

Its not too complicated. His patriotism isn't even on my mind. Thats like looking at the woman dentist standing over you with the drill and staring at her tits - nice to look at but there's going to be some searing pain, and you'd better get something for it before the drill bit hits the gum line pal no matter how big those bohongas are

so if you're looking at his patriotism, look instead to how to win the war. his voice is the still small voice of just, plain, truth.

The voice of how to win, well, thats leadership.
Thats where you're going to find your patriot.
And gosh darn it, I am just going to have to pack up my duck tape and get in my bass boat and truck over there to pakistan to get this guy. If its 25 million, still. I'm ready to go.
