From my perspective, the big difference between the two is that Obama has a political network and advisors. General Clark had nothing. The Draft Clark movement lived online and offline (meetups, local coordinators), and we had to show General Clark he had some form of support. I really don't think Obama, he of large crowds wherever he goes, had to wonder.
Yes, they were late. I do give them credit for sending General Clark to help Maffei, Massa, and Gillibrand on the final weekend. Given that General Clark was, along with Obama and President Clinton, the most frequently requested surrogate, that's no small thing.
Chris,
To be fair on Clark, he's not raising much money for the simple purpose of directing most of his small donors to give to candidates directly, with his small donor base already contributing over $100k to candidates for the 2006 elections.
Two of my favorite leaders. Full disclosure: I work for both General Clark and Senator Boxer. It was such a thrill for me to help make this podcast happen. The interplay between the two is great. I laughed when General Clark said Senator Boxer was giving him an accusatory look.
I'll be up front, I work for Amy's campaign. I just don't understand why folks keep trying to compare this to Hackett.
Patty and Amy stood side-by-side when Patty left the race. Let me know when Hackett and Brown do that. Patty sent an email out on Amy's behalf and has been supportive of Amy. It's not even the same situation.
And btw, this comment from you speaks volumes: "Again, I don't want to speak badly of a candidate willing to work so hard, but she really creeps me out at times."

Congrats Lowell and welcome home! If I can get off work, I'll try to see you in CA next week.

Seriously? Why on earth would Gen. Clark try to undermine Obama? That's just an absurd statement.

Good luck Chris. Sounds like you're going to continue to do some great things.
Actually Chris, you missed the top 4 that Howie lists above the next 16:
Lampson (TX-22)
Mahoney (FL-16)
McNerney (CA-11)
Space (OH-18)

I once worked for a client who was very much on the same page as you, Adam.

I disagree. I think saying you support Roe is pretty clear support for a woman's right to choose.

Way to focus on the substantive issues.
