I still think it's a headfake!

If there's one thing the Obama campaign is fantastic at it's not leaking. They promised...swore...that the text message would be the way people would find out.

I still believe them, and I still think the Dream Ticket is on!

We'l see...

Check the website

Its official.

And the text thing. Once the few "in the know" started contacting those who weren't chosen, people to make the travel arrangements, and security details (which they had to do before the announcement) there are too many leaks to stop.

It's not a head fake. It's Democrats doing what they do best. Here we go again...

Re: I still think it's a headfake!

If this is positive Obama-Biden, then I apologize.

That said, it sounds negative, and to that extent, I'm wondering what it is you don't like about the ticket.  I was pro-HRC vs. Obama this cycle as well, but it's time to move on from that.  HRC never was that realistic.

Biden fits.  He covers the flaws in Obama's resume.  He's knowledgeable, smart, and in a way, funny.  His gaffes are something I like actually - it shows that he's real, instead of a political phony that scripts everything.  I like that.

For Obama, I'm glad this was the pick, and not Tim Kaine (sure sounds like Kaine was 2nd, with how the reports are that Obama struggled over the Change vs. Experience Meme).  I'm sure for the idealists, Biden is a bit disappointing, but this is about winning.  Kaine wouldn't have done that, IMO.  This shows Obama is willing to get down and fight, he's willing to counter.  It shows a campaign willing to adapt and adjust to the changing political environment, as the political situation of this summer is different from what the fall is shaping up to be.  The idea that the man can change politics was a nice, idealistic vision.  In the end, this is the "political game" and Obama is just working the system, as many of us knew ... AND for that, I am grateful.  It's about winning, and while I would've liked HRC, that was never realistic, and Biden was the best pick out of the finalists.

To be honest, I didn't see another VP option out there this cycle that was far and away better than Biden.  There was no elite VP option that Obama shied away from.  Arguably, Biden was the best of the lot once some folks took their names off.

I beg to differ

"There was no elite VP option that Obama shied away from."

Wesley Clark.

Re: I beg to differ

I would've been fine with Wesley Clark as well, but I don't see how he would've better than Biden.  I really don't.  Again, I'm not saying Biden was the best of the lot, or that he was above the rest.  Rather, I'm saying that I don't see anyone who fit for Obama that was significantly better than Biden.

Re: I beg to differ

Fair enough.  I think Clark is a better speaker in that his "gaffes" are not misstatements, it's just the plain truth.  I think plain truth plays better in debates than oopsies like Biden's.  Regardless, I think both are fine choices.  As much as I hate it, in my own little anecdotal research (admittedly small scale), independents and others on the fence really believe that Obama had to pick a white guy to have any chance.  And thank heavens it wasn't Edwards!
