3 Dozen Telemarketers Walk-out, Lose Jobs Fighting for Obama

A touching scene emerged in the state of Indiana. It was a courages action taken by over three dozen Call Center agents.
It also reminds all of us that there are truly good, patriotic, loyal americans who share our moral values. It also shows that Senator Barack Obama's leadership truly inspires regular americans across the country.

As reported by TPM, over three dozen call center agents walked-off  their telemarketing jobs at Americall, a call center based in Hobart, Indiana. Despite warning from management, the agents decided to walk-off their job rather than make telemarketing calls using False Attacks scripts against Sen. Barack Obama.

They were given a choice to either go with the script & read it or leave. About 40 agents decided to walk-off.

According to the report, the agents were then all fired by the company.

The script had attacked Obama for being "dangerously weak on crime,""coddling criminals," and for voting against "protecting children from danger."

For these regular folks to risk their jobs especially during these tough & uncertain economic challenges is truly touching. My heart goes out to these fellow americans.

When I think of Indiana as being one of the highest unemployment states in the country, it took a lot of courage for a whole group of co-workers to do what they did.

This was their own personal way of fighting back against swifboating by the Republican Party.

I hope someone notifies the Obama campaign of what these workers just did. I'm sure Sen. Barack Obama would like to acknowledge them publicly. Not many people would have done this especially when we are going through the worst economic crisis since the great depression.

We need more then that...

We need some progressive business in their area to see if they can find them some jobs, even part time.

Those people know what we all know, what Obama told us today.

Not this time. Not this election, this is too important to listen to the old lies, the old game.

Each of this small signs show, that inspite of all the noise from a sick and dying political philosophy, change is coming in 8 days.

Re: Telemarketers Lose Jobs Fighting for Obama

Sounds just like the kind of people Obama would want to have working for him as professional phonebankers.  If there's any money for that in the Indiana effort these people should be contacted, even if they can't offer them much.  And they should still be recognized for their courage and sacrifice.

Most of the phonebanking is volunteer

Only a few paid staffers do phonebank stuff; mostly they just oversee the efforts and coordinate volunteers.

I could see Obama making an exception for this last week, though.  He still has money to spare.

Re:No more post titles too long to Re!!

The story sounds like they were just out of a job for that particular day not fired.
